Is this somehow ESPN's way of feeling less dirty for having Gameday at State College?
"Yeah, yeah. There was a child rape cover-up here for decades... but we let black dudes play!"

Yeah, I don't get the context.
They could have just told this story straight up. It stands on its own merits.
Why does it have to be told as some kind of redemption for Sandusky?

Didn't Michigan face this question about black players back in Ford's day? I recall Ford refusing to play, along with a bunch of others, unless his black teammate (roomate?) was allowed to play against some southern school.
Fuck Penn St.

and decades later I still have to remind myself that they're even in.

I am seeing a lot of signs trying to make fun of Jim Harbaugh. Let it never be said that he doesn't occupy a nice split-level in the minds of many a PSU fan.

Every single one of these PSU undergrads they're showing seems intensely unlikeable.

Maria Taylor: "So how'd you come up with this sign?"
PSU ungergrad: "My mom made it for me."

They have some MSU and Rutgers brahs in them.

but let's not pretend Ann Arbor isn't a haven for New Jersey and Long Island bros too. Who do we think is living in all those new lofts they've built in Ann Arbor?

Yeah... This Franklin impression is actually really good.

I feel confident too.
Exact opposite of how I felt for MSU this year.
It's just one of those intangible things.
This is just being presented as too much of a Penn State coronation for me.
I don't do coronations in sports. It's never that easy.
If we punch Penn State in the mouth early, they will freak out thinking about last year and collapse.

I felt weird about it, too -- maybe because while I was tailgating in the wind, I was aware (but not fully aware) of the veritable monsoon that was on the way. That entire day felt "off" to me, though...

I have to work tonight, so I'm going to miss the MICH game. I'm boycotting football today.
thanks for letting me share.

I'm going to get a seizure from that Texas 3rd down scoreboard graphic. Holy hell that's annoying.

Rutgers with the early lead on Purdue. They're moving the ball pretty well too.

Do you really want to go back to that "Leaders and Legends" nonsense?
Geographical divisions keep the rivalries together, so there's no possibility of playing your rival two weeks in a row.

Every conference has unbalanced divisions. How strong has the SEC East been?
In the end it doesn't really matter. We're going to play OSU and MSU every year no matter the division, and then if we're in the East we'll play PSU and if we're in the West we'll play Wisconsin on top of that, plus the BTCG if we win the division. We're never going to get a cake schedule in any alignment, unless OSU falls off (fat chance).

It's because their archrival (Minnesota) sucks, and the historical power in their division (Nebraska) is a mess.

The Big Ten East is the best thing that ever happned to Michigan.
I live in the DC area and also go to NJ / NY frequently. We are viewed as a defacto "local team" in these recruiting-rich areas.
Because of the Big Ten East, we play in this area every year.
Guys like Gary and Peppers and Nordin used to just automatically go to Penn State. Now Michigan is on their radar.
We don't want to go back to the Leaders division (or was it Legends?) for some fake notion of competitive balance, and just be an afterthought.
