Because everyone likes fan ideas for the coaches: Hill should play both ways

Submitted by Rodriguesqe on

Our passing game is broken. There are a lot of reasons, but among them is our WRs have been pretty crappy.

Hill looks like the type of athlete that could add an edge to our offense. Just a small role, 5-10 plays. Basically I'd like to see McDoom's targets go to Hill. Might have been the difference vs MSU.

DPJ is slowly becoming more and more a part of the offense. He is the elite athlete/playmaker on the outside this team needs. He had 4 catches on 6 targets this week and had a nice gain on a sweep carry. He got wiiiiide open on the deep ball; OKorn just missed him. If we have a qb to hit that deep play action and he gets one more block (please, anyone throw a block) on a tunnel screen, this is very suddenly a comfortable-ish win with DPJ having 5 catches, 100+ yards and 2 tds. He's almost there. He'll be a true #1 receiver. The line held up much, much better this week (still not great, but they almost felt adequate). Now coaches just have to figure out a solution at QB...

Granted, the opponent was Indiana, and Michigan will probably face tougher DLs coming up, but I think I have definitely seen improvement on the OL the last couple of games.

If DPJ and the other receivers can get a little [edit: make that a lot!] more physical and aggressive going after the ball, Michigan's offense will be in much better shape.

This is exactly what I said when I saw him high-point that INT.  He seems to go up and get it in a way our receivers do not.  I mean, not really a totally serious suggestion, but it does kinda make you think.

Not every decision the coaches make, despite having more experience than most, means they made the correct decision.  Since the coaches havent tried Hill on O it must be the correct decision?  Uhhh...no.  Coaches are human-beings just like everyone else.  I dont know if the OP is a good idea or a bad idea, but these messageboards kinda exist for us to post ideas like this.  I'd like to see Hill play a few snaps on O.  He might be the best athlete on the team.

To be fair, MgoBlog isn't so much a place to talk football but a dooshbag race.

Not only do I think this should happen, I think there is an excellent chance it does happen, maybe even at PSU.

The offense needs a charge. If the defense is stringing 3 and outs together why not let a difference maker go out there and make a difference on offense?

My suggestion is that Gary run a wild cat offense as the QB. Instill about 5 plays, run each play twice a game.

I also suggest Mo Hurst run a few plays as FB because he's very good.

Also, Mone should play TE becaue he could really move a DE out of the way. But only a few times a game.

We need someone to make a play.  One deep strike early would open up potential for the offense.  If they stack the box with impugnity... not good.

Moar Eubanks as well please.

That said...it would probably be limited to a few routes.  Timing is everything with the QB. The practice time is limited.  There is no doubt Hill would run under some tosses that are currently going long.

He was fantastic at the Open against elite competition. His speed, gliding ability and cutting were a great combination. Draw up a few plays for him and let him focus almost all his energy on D.
