you missed mine sherlock. MSU would have been happy with zero second half yards if that meant them winning the game. Thanks for posting meaningless stats though. Whatever make you feel better I guess. That L is the more important stat!!!!!

When you’re winning and the team you are playing can’t score/keeps giving you the ball back...you could have zero yards and still win.

Not sure, because if you keep leaving them on the field after 3 and outs by your offense and you keep giving them short fields to defend after turnovers by your offense . . . do you really know how good they are?

No defense is going to stand up to that game after game.

This was largely dictated by the game situation. With MSU having the lead when the monsoon arrived, the onus was on M to take risks and try to score. Dantonio decided to pack in the offense, take no risks, and dare us to score, and it worked.

I get his point. It's great that our D played great in the second half but everyone knew that bad weather was coming and the first half was crucial. The D gave up over 200 yds and 14 pts in the first half. While the D certainly isn't the reason why we lost, I think we have to understand MSU was content to run clock and punt in the second half which made it much easier for our defense.

UofM has a great defense but they weren't great in the 1st half.  MSU scored 14 points and racked up more than 100 yards rushing by halftime.  MSU did not need to score more points in the 2nd half, so they played it very conservatively.   That made UofM's defense look great.

I think Harbaugh is a good coach, not a great coach, and he & his staff were outcoached by Dantonio and his.

I was not happy with Harbaugh blaming the loss primarily on the 5 turnovers.  By doing so, he threw his players under the bus.

There are, and have been, some serious issues on Habaugh's offensive coaching staff at UofM (no pun intended).  And if Harbaugh won't admit to that, it won't be fixed.  That's the biggeest problem they are facing right now.

D played great, no question, and of course MSU would have loved to move the ball. My point was that conditions were uniquely hostile to offense and it would have been necessary to take large risks to try to score. It seemed pretty clear Dantonio made a choice not to take those risks and put the game on his D and M's O.

Great effort from the D overall - though it was frustrating to give up two first downs on that last possession, when we desperately needed the ball.  Bush's offside penalty came at a really bad time.

Exactly. Here's how it goes: TOUCHDOWN...3 AND OUT!!!...interception...3 and out...interception...3 and out...interception...3 and out...dropped pass...3 and out...dumb run on 3rd down...bs roll over center, but holding setting up miraculous opportunity to score with 40 sec left...dropped pass in redzone. Give me a fucking break!

Where he gets punched in the helmet by Allen yet the limp dick ret couldn't possible call off settings personal fouls...... yeah that one As to the original post, last nights game was similar to 08 OSU where Tressel was more than happy to run up the middle and punt confident that our offense couldn't do squat. The difference there is that our three best players were playing hurt. There was no excuse for last nights offense game plan.... Throwing the G#% D#% ball in a monsoon! When there were pitch sweep and Jet's that would had a better chance at success...... That was horse crap play calling last night.....

Michigan left this win - just like in 2015 - on the table. Primarily because of the lack of awareness of the way the weather will affect things later in the game and the way a few points will make the difference in the game. Michigan was extremely close to a TD on the opening drive but did not have any urgency in getting it. This was because they likely assumed there'd be many more opportunities.

Instead, they wouldn't get a TD until well into the 3rd quarter. If they had gotten one in this spot ..this game may well have gone very differently. That drive took almost half the first quarter. Michigan was shortening the game. The rain and wind were guaranteed to further eat into the quantity of genuine offensive opportunity later on.

The problem of our D is that because it is so aggressive, they're ripe for 1 or 2 massive plays especially in the first half when we don't really know yet what they have up their sleeves. Now typically if those plays end up getting them 7 or 10 points and you zero in on them in the second half, you still should be heavily favored to win the game. But in this setup, this was likely to prove enough for them if we don't go toe to toe with them and balls out early on.

That wasn't unpredictable. I said 3 hours before the game that the storm will grind offensive production down to the barest of minimums.

Our defense is designed to give up 14 points and not 28 points.

Brown knows that his aggressiveness will lead to a few breakdowns that will allow the opposition to hit some chunk plays and get a couple of easy scores.

But he knows that college offenses can't do that consistently.  He's willing to give up the 14 points because he knows that you can't come up with a way to get to 28.

Problem is, he's counting on our (pathetic) offense to at least score 14 points.

given we held teams to less than 14 points...on 7 occasions last year and already 2 occasions this year.

But your general point is of course true and I don't fault Brown for that. But knowing that and the problems *any* offense would have late in the game..the offense should have gone for the jugular early on. If there was a game to dig deep and get out the creativity early on..this was it.
