Win two or three of the next five (should get three) and then at least one in the BTT, for good measure. Minimum 20 wins and .500 ball in regular season play. That would demonstrate we didn't absolutely implode. (Who we beat or possibly lose to will matter). But of course we're best off staying hot.

I don't get this line of thinking. If anything the fire Beilein crowd was correct. Look how the results have changed since the kids started to give a fuck. There is 0 reason for them to not play like this every game instead of going on apathetic slumps like they have for the past 3 years. The team still gets bullied down low and Beilein almost single handedly gave the game away with his terrible substitution patterns in the first half.

Duncan also had the biggest defensive rebound of the game. Kicked Nigel Hayes ass on the weak side one-on-one to seal a huge stop.

The biggest run of the game took place with Donnal at the 5 and Irvin at the 4. Wilson barely got any run in the last 10 minutes.

And the "they should just play like this every game" after the best performances of the season is an asinine take. It's sports. You play well, you play poorly. Beilein stays positive and gets his guys through it, and the results over the course of his career show that his approach works.

they should play like this every game (at least, they shouldn't because that would be asinine), but what people do say, deservedly so, is that they should play this hard every game.  If you're a college kid playing a 30 game basketball season, many of whom are trying to go pro somewhere, it shouldn't be a question that you're giving 100% every game. That's what was lacking for a stretch.

Missed shots (as long as they're good shots) are never something to complain about.  Poor effort is something to complain about.

except that Irvin was in a slump (happens sometimes regardless of coaching) and freshmen/sophomores had to gel. Mo Wagner for example is still learning the system, a language and the entire American game for fucks sake. people forget Beilein has said his offense takes 2 years to learn. that's why he went with Dave Merritt and CJ Lee long ago. they were walk on but they grasped the system fastest. you can argue Beilein should change his system, but that's who we hired and it's a successful, proven system. point is, this team finally clicked. MO and DJ finally understand. Xavier is playing useful minutes giving Walton valuable recovery time. Irvin has changed from a volume jump shooter to a distributer/slasher/defensive player. pieces had to come together and it was coaching that did that. people who expected this team to just come together at this level from day 1 are naive.

Completely agree with Bursley.

The first half was terrible substitutions and deplorable defense (did we not know they would rely on Happ? can we not teach Mo to respond to an entry pass by now?). The second half was better in both cases. But I still wouldn't say we were good on defense. Wisconsin, especially without Koenig, is not even very close to the 11th best team in the country, in my opinion.

Doesn't matter why they were made, they were stupid. You don't take your best player and your second-best player, who happens to be your PG and your leader, off the floor just as you're starting to pull away. That's dumb.

If you think they need a blow, there are plenty of better ways to do it.

It's comical how some of you are so desperate to win a dumb internet argument that you're ranting even after a huge win.

Hey, I don't blame you for being upset with Beilein after games like Illinois (on the road) or OSU, but to be searching for stuff to bitch about in this game is laughable.

Some people actually think they know more about bball and what's going on with a team than a coach who has won consistently at every level. He can't recruit but found two highly productive players that others didn't in mo and Duncan, and developed them. And that wasn't terrible D, sometimes great players score and Happ is top3 in big 10. Very polished and athletic for a big man. Reminds me of Leaf from ucla
