I'm confident that the Kansas State wizard will pull through. Best of luck!

Kansas State HC Bill Snyder diagnosed with throat cancer. His treatment won't affect his duties with the Wildcats. https://t.co/FruyGrLISj

my dad had throat cancer. depending on his treatment it could be very very hard for him to eat. my dad struggled through without a feeding tube but the doctors recommended it throughout. if he has a similar treatment i think it would be pretty difficult for it to not affect his duties.

My dad died of throat cancer last year (well, he was cancer-free, but for all intents and purposes, it killed him). They killed the cancer via radiation (he was Stage 4, so pretty bad), but forgot to mention that that process would leave massive scar tissue in his throat and effectively end his ability to make saliva again. No saliva, no eating solid food. No eating solid food, slowly wasting away. I say this not to be a "bummer," but it's not always just as simple as "let's kill the cancer and you'll live!"

im sorry about your loss.. cancer sucks and so do complications of cancer and its treatments
my dad lost his taste for food from chemo and then radiation made it so that he could barely even swallow due to the pain in his throat. he was looking pretty bad but pulled through in the end.

Im very sorry to hear this. But im just wondering....why couldn't he eat enough calories through non solid foods ?

Go Bill Snyder. Without asking, I can assure you this is my wife's favorite coach (she takes care of gariatric former nuclear workers for a living and loves every minute minute of it). This shows me the guy is grounded:
Snyder also addressed widespread speculation about his health, apologizing for publicly disclosing his diagnosis before having the opportunity to tell some friends and family members.
I think the people will forgive you, Coach.

Yes, I hope he recovers fully. He is a really good coach!

One of the best the college football game has to offer. A winner on the field, and a true man off of it. Its times like this when we all remember that football is just a game. No matter what happens in a football game, the sun is coming up the next morning.
Kick cancer's ass, Bill.

The guy is one of the few dudes in college football where think that if you look behind the curtain you'll see that things are on the up and up.

Fuck Yourself Cancer.
The end.

Wow. Hoping he has a speedy recovery.
Bill Snyder is probably one of the most underrated college football coaches of all time. Kansas State was literally the worst program in FBS when he took over. The turnaround job he orchestrated there was nothing short of amazing.

immediately prior to Bill Snyder. Parrish is a good guy, but as you said, the Wildcats were truly at rock bottom prior to Snyder taking over for the 1989 season.
K-State was 0-26-1 in their 27 games immediately prior to Snyder taking over. Losses against the likes of Austin Peay (!!!!), Northern Iowa, Tulsa, Tulane and Army. The tie was against Kansas, who stunk themselves in the late 1980s.
K-State was literally thinking of shuttering their football program at that time. Figured they would follow in the footsteps of Wichita State and concentrate on basketball. It was simply a fact: it was impossible to build a winning football program on the west Kansas prairie, squeezed between Big 8 powerhouses Nebraska to the north, Oklahoma to the south, and Colorado to the west.
Yet, 10 years later .........
The 1998 Big XII Championship game. Miami beat UCLA earlier in the day. K-State was going to the National Championship game (!!!) with a win. But they couldn't hold a 15-point lead w/ 9:00 to play. And then 3rd-and-17 in the 2nd overtime. My uncle is a K-State alum, he still can't talk about it .......

Loved that team....Michael Bishop was the man.
February 13th, 2017 at 6:34 PM ^
Fun fact: Michael Bishop was drafted by the Patriots in 1999 and was one of the QBs who was ahead of Tom Brady on the depth chart when Brady began his NFL career.

I remember that game. They were playing Texas A&M. At the end of regulation, K-State completed a 65-yard would-be Hail Mary as time expired that would have won the game if it wasn't one yard short of the goal line. I felt awful for K-State's players and fans, since that's the kind of loss that you never fully get over.

Looked up the tape and it was incredible:
1) First, Snyder trots Gramatica out there for a 69 (!!!!!) yard field goal to win it.
2) But, K-State was called for delay-of-game.
3) 74-yard field goal --- even Lane Kiffin wouldn't try that! So, the Hail Mary. Bishop actually threw the ball from 5 yards behind the LOS. That, plus the previous penalty, are both unfortunate given that the ball is caught 1 yard short of the end zone.

He is a man who has always beaten the long odds to do soemthing incredible.
Do it again, Bill.

My mom died from the lasting effects of Stage 3 throat cancer. Sad to say UM hospital wanted/needed research back in 1988 and suggested a massive removal of every from the base of her tongue all the way to her esophagus and that she would eat through a tube for the rest of her life.
She found a Dr at St. Joseph's Hospital in Ypsi that shrunk the tumor with Chemo and radiation and then removed it. After a LOOONNNGGG recover period she was able to eat and talk agin. Only to pass away away at 53 years old on March 3 of 1990. I found her dead on her bedroom floor when I returned home from work late that night.
Drinking and smoking WILL kill you eventually.
Again, all the best to Coach Snyder.
