Signing Day Prediction Thread

This was hapenning organically in the Aubrey Solomon thread so I thought I'd make it its own.  Make your predictions on the guys we're pursuing and why.

 

Solomon - goes blue - trust Sam?

Gay - nope -  black holes and all that

Becton - nope - seems to be trending to VaTech

Iffy - goes blue - Don Brown is a dude

Collins - goes blue - 247 Georgia guys don't seem sure after OV

Martin - goes blue - Harbaugh type of guy, they went swimming

ND insider Tom Loy CB'd Martin to UM this morning.  I was of the belief that ND was the only real hurdle we had for Martin at this point so I think that bodes well for us!  Bartow also put in a Blue ball for a short time ago so he might be as close to a lock as you can get at this point!

Martin looks to be locked up. A few southern insiders just CB'd Collins to Michigan a couple minutes ago. Solomon continues to look like it's better than a 50/50 shot. I think we honestly might get all three of those and miss on Gay and Becton (and replace with Ifi)

Oliver Martin- MICHIGAN (Only one recruit we have the lead for)

Nico Collins-FOGGY (Oh look at me Im a pro crystal baller)

Mekhi Becton- VIRGINIA TECH (Stays in state. Why? I have no clue why he wouldnt come to UM) 

Aubrey Solomon-ALABAMA (He said Bama leads big. Dont care what the insiders say)

Willie Gay-LSU (He said he wants to play for LSU. Michigan has virtually no crystall bals)

 

As you can see I'm keeping my expectations in check. Top southern talent is just too hard to steal from the LSUs and Alabamas

Many of our Commits were orchestrated during Commitmas 2016. I suspect we have received silent secret commitments. As much as the Recruits like to create Drama and Suspense, so too does our Staff. It makes little sense to have Signing of the Stars, without knowledge of some secret commits. That being said: WR Oliver Martin Natatorium "Swim with Jim" makes no sense unless Jim Offered/Ollie Accepted WR Nico Collins Thought he was a "lock" at Christmas. Seems tight with Class. Pursuit of Martin makes me think, not a "lock". Would love to have him. Hoping so, encouraged by southern crystal balls. If he's BLUE, he's a helluva an actor/poker player... I'm thinking it'd be Odd to get both. S. IFFY CERTAINLY Solomon. Hard for Me to see this after F U Moment.....unless Momma wins and Momma Says "Bulldogs/Bama are for the Devil" Gay. "He Gone" He Tiger Becton It makes sense for him to come compete n play....M > VaTECH. Surprise BLUE

land Oliver, Solomon and Collins - all three have been very interested in UM for a stretch and their families will endorse UM. JH and staff have been laser focused on them for the last few weeks. Adding Pep only helps with 2 of them. Solomon is a stretch with Bama in pursuit, but we have his diligent mom on our side.

Solomon - Yes, heavy ballz trendz for us + 'slip of the tongue' at AA game "Michigan is my top school"

Gay - No, the LSU buzz was no joke, visit + recent ubiquitous LSU plugs on twitter

Becton - No, oh this one hurts - too heavy a trend to VT

Iffy - No, took this month to visit almost his entire top 5 except for us and OSU, although I have even less confidence at an OSU commitment

Collins - Yes, good trends after UGA visit: apathetic comments from staff and a lot of ballz for us

Martin - Yes, most likely commit of them all

are Iffy and Oliver. I think Gay is the least likely but I also said Nico was not coming here months ago so I'll just stop looking and see on NSD. REALLY want Gay and Solomon though.

Martin - yes

Iffy - if wanted, yes

Gay, Solomen, Collins, Becton - if any of these guys commit to UM, for me it will be an unexpected plus. Then one must congratulate Harbaugh & UM FB recruiting staff for getting any of those dudes out of the south/SEC :)

Solomon, Collins, and Martin would be my consensus guess. Wildcard would be Tufele and/or Austin Jackson

Anyone else notice the lack of CA prospects going Blue? Stanford's doing a good job out west. If I were to get all that I wanted I'd have Joseph Lewis and Josh Falo in this class.

Who is coming.  For those that aren't, won't even remember their names come Spring ball.  This is a high quality class regardless how the last couple of pieces fall.

Harbaugh and company are gonna coach these kids up and we're gonna have some fun as fans for the foreseeable future!

I noticed Derrius Mullins 3-star DT from Columbus Ohio decommitted from Indiana. He is 6 4  and 330lbs and plays NT. With our need and the Greg Frey Indiana angle is this a possible late offer and/or replacemt option for Solomon? I'd kick the tires here. Thoughts?

 

EDIT: Just saw Kevin Wilson was his primary recruiter at Indiana, maybe Ohio State has put out their feelers for a late in the game flyer for a hometown kid.

I believe that we will end up landing Martin, Collins and Solomon.  Martin appears to be as close to a lock, might even be verbally committed already.  With all the negativity coming out after Collin's Georgia visit this weekend I have to think he is going Blue at this point.  For Solomon I just believe the mom influence is going to be the deciding factor and he will end going Blue even though I'm not overly confident on this one.

I still think there is a shot we land Becton.  UM seemed to make up some ground on VTech with the last visit to his BBall game.  Still think he ends up a VTech for some inexplicable reason but wouldn't be surprised if we got him.

I expect that Gay will end up at Miss St and not LSU but I don't think we have more than a 10% chance of getting him at this point.
