don't we crash the offensive glass against these guys?  everyone is running back on D when a shot goes up.  we should not be playing like its a BIG team.  crash the fucking boards.

JB teams have never been a crash the board team, regardless of who we're playing. No coincidence that JB"s teams are traditionally good at limiting transition defense.

That said, with the amount of 3s his teams shoot, I would think he would encourage crashing the boards more as it's easier to get offensive rebounds off 3s because the ball bounces further away from the hoop.

finally with a huge play.  however, i can't believe JB didn't call a TO there with 15 sec on the shot clock to set something up.  you can't bank those TOs for the next game.

Interesting defensive lineup on that possession. Walton-MAAR-Robinson-Irvin-Wilson. I was thinking we'd sub in MAAR for Robinson and keep Wagner out there. Has that been a typical crunch time lineup for defensive situations this year? I haven't been paying attention enough.

Solace for me tonight in that if we had just shot the ball at an average rate, we win comfortably against a solid mid major team. Gotta shoot better in conference play though.

A lot of malaise on offense tonight.  Still, Furman played well, and it's a lot better to avoid the upset and try to improve than to take the big resume hit.  If we come out the next game and play well, no one is going to care for long that a lot of this game was ugly.  That wouldn't be the case if we'd lost.

This team is inconsistent.. That's been clear for a while.  We're probably going to stink it up in a couple of Big 10 games, and also pick up a couple of big wins along the way.  Still have the chance to have a good season -- Had we lost tonight, that window would have shrunk.

Furman definitely came out with more energy, which isn't surprising- playing a big time opponent, chance to catch us sleeping, etc. The most annoying thing was the way they out-rebounded us. But a few days before X-mas these kinds of games are easy to lose and we found a way to get the W. Go Blue!

Let me sum up the season and save us all some time. We we hit threes we can play with anyone, when we miss we can lose to anyone. Plain and simple.

Some will overreact later this year when we get blown out by an inferior opponent like Penn State but then we will somehow go out and beat a team like Purdue.

I'm calling 10-8 and bubble.

Was at the game; there was an amazing play call by Beilein with around 4-8 miinutes to go (I'd guess around 5).  I think Walton had the ball, he ran off two ball screens and then there was a weakside downscreen on DRob's guy to get a wide-open 3, which he hit.  Robinson's player was stuck helping on the second ball screen and the Furman player that was guarding DRob's screener was late to help because he was caught up in the ball screen.

Stuff like that is why coaches praise Beilein's offense so profusely.  If anyone is good at GIFing things, it'd be great to see again.

The atmosphere at the game was actually pretty good.  The upper bowl was probably 75-80% full and it was as loud as its been all season when Walton hit his And-1.  Too bad the student section looked like crap.  Are they not selling student section-break games to alums any more?
