Where to sit at HorseShoe
So I'm traveling in from Jordan to go to the OSU game, need to check which section I should sit in to watch the game. Which sections are the ones that would have the most Michigan Fans and which section is also considered the visitor section during the GAME. Thanks guys.. Alternatly, if anyone knows which is the most hostile section for an opposing fan, please note it for me! thanks
Edit: thanks guys -- Conclusion is to get a ticket in the 8 or 10 A or C section, wear my Michigan T shirt under a red or white t-shirt (used for walking in, out, or going to bathroom), if we win, run for my life(I'm totally ok with that)!! Here goes my 6000 Mile trip wish me luck!!

I read the title differently. And most likely more appropriately.
You are a dedicated fan! Go Blue! (sorry I have no advice. Have never been to that dump.)

From my experience, ALL the sections are pretty hostile, as are the streets around the stadium.

I agree.
I went to OSU vs. Toledo back in the late 90's before Toledo was any good.
The fans were downright nasty - pouring beer on people, cursing, spitting...and this was TOLEDO fergodsakes!
The QB for Toledo even lined up behind the Guard on the first play from scrimmage...that shows you something.
I can't even imagine the level of hostility one might encounter for The Game.

never again. My buddy was wearing a UM hat, some college guy ran up and took it off his head, when my friend was like "hey man, give it back", a group of 12 guys surrounded us and said we would have to fight to get it back. He didn't get it back. It's not worth going.

Is the response I first thought before clicking through. I thought I would see a bunch of snark and photos.

with Jake Butt.
This will be safer than anywhere in the stands our outside the stadium.

I'm not sure about seating in the stadium, but if you sit on a cooler before or after the game, first ensure that the lid is fully secure.
You'll thank me for this advice later.

Outside the stadium. I hear the seating is nice in Michigan.

Well, Yo Blue beat me to it, but I was going to say I've never heard anyone ask where to sit in a toilet before! I thought it was self explanatory.

also...sit behind the visitor bench. The visiting fan section is in the right front corner of in the closed end...if you're standing in the end zone, with the student section at your back, right front. I think sections 6, 10, 12 ish. When I was last there, that's where the M fans were. Also be careful leaving. Students are rowdy.

Sit with one foot out the door to facilitate a quicker getaway.

Seth posted a "quick shoe guide" on the front page that might be helpful.

Is in the middle east, you're safer there than in Columbus, if you have Michigan stuff on.
Also, if you're driving there, which I highly dicourage, stop at a Kmart in Ohio and buy a cheap OSU hat to put in your rear window. In fact buy 2.

As getting to your seat. If Michigan wins you can double the danger getting back to your car. I have never had a problem while I was in my seat though. Most of the teasing or poking fun at one another happens before the game tail-gating. Should Michigan win the game. It's best if you leave and not hang around or talk to loud about how Michigan beat their asses after the game tail-gating. Common sense is important if not mandatory after a UM win especially when the stakes are so high.
If Michigan loses (Gods forbid) you should be able to stay and talk all night long about the how and why of it all. So again it's best if you leave and not hang around and talk about how the referee's should go back to their other job and park cars for some restaurant.

Long time since I was there so they may have made renovations but friends were just there for the Northwestern OSU game. Try to avoid being in the lower levels that are back up under the overhang area. There are actually posts that help support the upper deck and at times if you are unfortunately seated they can block your view - sort of like old Tiger stadium had these posts. The speaker back there are also not well sited so it can be hard to hear the announcer.

The seats you are talking about are considered B deck.

Anywhere in the A or C deck of the even numbered sections (East side) of the stadium.
Do not sit in the South Endzone (students). Their students also have pockets in the north endzone.
Just avoid the B Deck unless you are within the first 3-5 rows of it. It's covered by the C deck, claustrophobic and has obstructed views.

Man up and sit in the student section wearing all maize. Bring a cowbell too and start a Go Blue chant/cadence. <--- This would be my advice for anyone who has suicidal thoughts. I sat in the student section in gang-neutral colors in 2004. I thought I was pretty clever by not wearing UM colors. Everyone knew whose side I was on because of the lack of Scarlet.
It was a pretty intense environment; I was about five rows directly behind the bench. The whole time a bunch of drunk students were calling Tressel and Krenzel all kinds of Sunday School names that I will not repeat; that is how they treated their own team... After the osu win, I witnessed a few ohio fans grab a guy in Michigan gear and pretend that they were going to push him over the bridge. They promptly let him go and ran off laughing and giving one another high fives. There were some halfway decent osu fans that were there, but they were more of an exception to the overall feel of the campus area.

I cannot say that 2C is the official Michigan section. In fact I'm pretty sure it's anything but, and right next to one of the (I think there are two?) student sections. But I am sitting in Section 2C, and hope that many more fans of the good guys will join me.

I've had M fans at my tailgate and at the game on two occasions and they encountered no problems. If you're tailgating and hanging out, anything West and NW of the Stadium is absolutely fine. The further East you go the more likely you are to encounter student housing. West and North are isolated from any sort of campus housing. It's all fairly apparent from any map of campus, but basically West of the mighty Olentangy is absolutely, perfectly fine. In 2014, Mason Cole's family and a group of M fans tailgated next to us w/o incident.
Inside, the visiting sections suck. Good luck. It's a long, narrow strip from field to Row 42 in C-Deck. I'd look for tickets elsewhere. Anything between the 20s is most likely going to be fine. You may have bad luck and sit next to a jerk, but such is the risk. Finally, C-Deck goes up 42 rows. Somewhere around Row 30 it becomes just too high, IMO.

Yes, park west of the Olentangy river and walk over the bridge to the stadium. Should not have any problems. Students / drunks don't go over there.

So you're saying there is a chance that some random OSU fans will turn on me in Maize and Blue! A buddy of mine and I are going with tickets from his client. No idea where we are but I'll look for people NW of the stadium and hope and pray we don't get jacked!

There's always a chance. It's a chance I'd be remarkably comfortable with if I were you. Presumably you also appreciate there's a chance you die while driving your car.
Stick West of the river and you'll have a normal road game experience. Wander around on Indianola (East of High; 2 mi E of the Stadium) and your chances for a normal experience decrease.
Anyway, I'm happy to answer any questions if you have them.

I've never had a problem at all in the stadium I would think most michigan fans would say similar things. Only time I ever had any issue was outside the statdium and oddly enough it was when I was a young kid. To be fair and give them credit I really haven't had anything over the top in the last 5-6 games at osu except normal banter.
Part of this is michigan has sucked balls so columbus has been far less hostile (i live in columbus) overall.
I do always wear a sweatshirt from my car and I have ohio plates so my car fits in and then I just throw away the sweatshirt and wear michigan gear. It's also a noon game so that will calm things down.
It's never going to be as peaceful as when the game is in AA but it's really not that bad.
