Harbaugh asked about profanity chant by MSU students

Many of you heard the clear "F*ck You, Harbaugh" chant in the 2nd quarter by the MSU Student section. Coach has responded:

Harbaugh heard Spartan Stadium's F___ Jim Harbaugh chants: 'That was great and classy ... I thought they were saying 'Love Jim Harbaugh.' '

Yeah, I don't remember them ever devoting a chant to the previous two regimes and they should be a little put off in East Lansing as I think this is a sign that we're walking right past them and things are slowly beginning to return to a more normal state.

I bet Harbaugh chuckled in the moment, at least inside. As others said, I very much doubt he even gives a shit what they think and that is as it should be.

Did not hear it. Wasn't very loud. Probably well placed mikes but "the entire stadium" was certainly not involved. And since at least 40% of the stadium were Michigan fans once again the entire stadium was not involved.

I was in section 124 row 2 which is the middle of the upper deck below the press box opposite the student section. Heard it loud and clear from early in the first quarter on. The Michigan fans behind me asked the older State fans what they thought of that and their answer was, "we aren't the student section don't ask us".

By coaching the football team to a win. In future seasons, we'll be prepared for the taunts. In future seasons, MSU will be prepared for the loss. I favor our position.

The moment MSU starts GENUINELY cheering in support of our head coach is the moment we need to get a new head coach.

I'm sure Harbaugh is fricking PROUD and looks forward to more creative cheers from the MSU student section as he figuratively rips Sparty's helmet off, shits in it, then wipes his ass clean on the crest.

Isn't this more of a statement on how scared State and others are about Michigan having Harbaugh as the coach? If you take such anger out on Harbaugh it must be because he is winning. I mean, we never heard a Fuck Brady Hole or Rich Rodriguez chant.... that's because they weren't threats. Harbaugh is. And I love it.

Reminds me of something Desmond said in an ESPN feature a few years back. He wanted OSU fans to tell him to go fuck himself or that they hated him. That meant he was doing his job and getting under their skin.

There's a reason OSU / MSU fans would show up to Michigan games with huge banners saying "We love you, Coach Rodriguez," or sign online petitions to keep Hoke at Michigan. Because they weren't even remotely threats. They were laughing stocks. Playing those coaches and those teams were tune-ups for the playoff or the Rose Bowl.

If I were Harbaugh I'd take it as a compliment.

My encounter today with an MSU alum: "Yeah, well we're a basketball school!"

 

caveat: The person in question is actually a nice guy, and did play for MSU BBall back in the mid-late 70's.
