Reportedly, Tennessee had a players only meeting that resulted in a bunch of players (including star RB Jalen Hurd) quitting the team.

There seems to be a ton of institutional strife going on at Tennessee, with the alleged sexual assault scandal added to it.

Is it possible that Butch Jones (and our old buddy Mike DeBord) lose their job this season?

EDIT: Updated with better sauces

You would have to be some kind of pissed off to want to leave Tennessee football now with Tennessee Tech, Kentucky, Missouri and Vanderbilt remaining on the schedule. Easy stat lines across the board.

If he doesn't he risks putting himself at risk if a couple of games down the stretch go the wrong way.  Think of all the hype Tenn had to start this year.  Davis needs to shift the talk away from himself.

Honestly, I think that move would seal Jones' fate. DeBord was his hire in a way most hires are not. When you hire an improbable candidate who was long out of football, keep him in the face of questionable results and long running criticism, firing him mid-season is admitting your judgement is terrible. It certainly looks like scapegoating if done in response to players leaving.

If Jones doesn't think DeBord is doing a good job, he can take over play calling duties or quietly give them to someone else. Hope the season ends well enough to get another year and let DeBord "retire" after the bowl game rather than draw more attention to the troubles that are his own fault.

I suspect that Jones is the real problem so shaking up his staff won't matter.

They are just extremely average coaches (DeBord just isn't good at all, really). I'm disappointed in Jones as he has exceeded very little control or discipline over his team. Tennessee sold its soul to get a decent coach, but Jones just isn't that guy, nor is he the "good man, gentleman, classy" guy that keeps a program looking decent. Bad times in Rocky Top.

Good, burn it to the fucking ground. It makes me sick to see them and Baylor playing meaningful football this year. It's a total disgrace. I was never that impressed with Hurd but at least now I will likely gain some respect for him for walking away from that shit show and their scumbag leader.

You guys wanna know how I really feel?
