Depth like the Red Wings of the late 90s when Scotty would roll 4 lines with no real drop off in play. Bodes well for the 2017 season.

When he was asked how long he thought he'd be here it didn't even register that the reporter was asking if he'd take a head job. His response was I look that old huh? The reporter then clarified and that's when you got the quotes above.

Agreed. There's something to be said for knowing what you're good at and staying in your lane. It's like the anti Brady Hoke theory. If I were a very solid DL coach or D Coordinator, I'd give serious thought to just turning down every mediocre first HC job that got dangled in front of me. I'd rather be a huge fish in a somewhat smaller pond. These guys are still making $500K+ to do a job that they love at the highest levels. I'd be inclined to go for keeping a sterling reputation and job security over the additional stress and uncertainty of a HC position.

Sparty will be focused and come out with a lot of emotion.  But Michigan will be ready.  They will match the emotion and talent will win out.  I am increasingly confident that Michigan will win comfortably.

I don't see any way that Sparty will match the emotion and intensity that Michigan will bring Saturday.  Just don't see it.  Yes, they'll be looking for the Super Bowl knock-out, but that emotion will leave swiftly.  Michigan will not let up.  At all.

Wonder if Brown felt like Oppenheimer the first time he saw this defense unleashed (without the remorse):

"We knew the world would not be the same. Few people laughed, few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that, one way or another."

I love Don Brown.

Here is how I imagine Don and Jim spend their halloween:

1) They go through the neighborhood dressed as themselves getting candy.

2) They hit the neighborhood again, dressed as one another.

3) They take their candy up to their tree house to see who got the most. They tie, which they decide to settle by arm wrestiling.

4) Before they begin, however, they spy an old miser giving out carrot sticks.

5) Old miser gets a stern talking to. He starts handing out beef jerky and glasses of milk.

6) Young punk tries to steal a little girls candy near by.

7) Young punk is made to return little girls candy, along with all the money in his pocket and a promise to serve as her personal body gaurd for the next year.  Don Brown glares silently while Harbaugh promises, "And we'll be checking up with her to make sure you are keeping your promise."

8) They drive to a recruits house, where they proceed to carve Michigan-themed pumpkins, impressing the recruits parents with their dedication and artisic abilites.

9) They return to the tree house, where their wives inform them they really need to go to bed.

I love that the young guys we'll be depending on next year have been getting so much experience in practice and games. We actually have a forward thinking coaching staff!

Students attending the game ought to wear brown bandanas on their heads or around their necks to show appreciation for Coach Brown. The dude abides.
