Can't really see them hiring anyone but Art Briles really..
Briles, outside of the off-field issues, might actually be what LSU wants with his high speed offense.
September 25th, 2016 at 6:57 PM ^
Those off-field issues are kind of a big deal. Its like saying "cancer, despite a propensity for killing you, is a great way to lose weight."
September 25th, 2016 at 7:05 PM ^
Something tells me LSU doesn't really care unless they're gunning for Jimbo Fisher or Tom Herman.
September 25th, 2016 at 8:17 PM ^
No way in hell Jimbo leaves FSU for LSU.
September 25th, 2016 at 6:57 PM ^
They should have fired Cameron and given Miles the rest of the season. As for Briles, I think they are too "civil" in BR to hire him. Briles would get them a National Championship within five years, but they are big on gentility and civility in BR. I just don't see it happening.

Ken Starr was in the news yesterday pushing a full throated defense of Art Briles. Starr is painting Briles as the victim. That will be enough for the LSU boosters,

Or which Jim. There's other Jims beside Harbaugh.

I think Les will be taking some time to do nothing for awhile.

LSU may learn this with a new leader grazing the sidelines.

I think he is in his mid 60's, I bet he calls it a career.

Maybe not Weis-level, but...

But...but...we're good a recruiting.

Very true.
But Les can't help us unless you fire someone...so let me know who you're firing if you want Les to recruit.

It doesn't work like that. You can't give someone a position in your program as a recruiter or as an analyst who has been a college head coach for the last 16 years. It would not work.

The point is, Les Miles can take a smaller role but he's still a head coach. Having someone who walks and talks like a head coach, but isn't, just will not work. Especially with Jim Harbaugh.

What did Saban do?
Harbaugh has a bunch of guys in the same role...but they're not long-tenure HCs who can still be HCs now. Same with Saban's staff.
Why not get Spurrier? How about we grab Frank Beamer?! Mack Brown...get him off ESPN/ABC, hire him so we can recruit Texas!!!
What are we waiting for?!!!
Think MGoTeacher...THINK.

- The guys who are HC candidates...are on the offensive side of the ball. You want to hire Les Miles to coach offense?
- Sure he has a connection to Michigan...why in the WORLD would Les Miles come to Michigan in say, December (because now you're saying someone has to leave), to be an assistant coach?
FYI - He's never coached defense...he's coached OL, TEs and he was an OC at Oklahoma St. - sooo that's not an answer either.
If he wants to help us...go be the head coach at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans and send us your best players.
September 25th, 2016 at 6:30 PM ^
2. Because he likes Michigan and would probably consider an assistant coach position for a year or two as opposed to head coaching a break?

Why does he have to take someone's spot? There's not actually a limit on analysts. Didn't you notice Harbaugh hired like 20 of them without firing anybody?
I also don't get why people are arguing Les can't be here because he was an HC for a long time. Where's the track record of that going wrong? Les is old. He loves Michigan. He may be totally fine with it. He strikes me as a pretty easygoing guy.
Having said that, I don't get why a few people here are obsessed with hiring him in some capacity. Who cares?

"There's no rule governing that?" Referring to Saban hiring Sark and having so many on staff.
Mandel: "No, it's been talked about but deemed impossible to enforce."

yea, a 62 year old recruiter
