OT....I went to ND Nevada yesterday (free tix don't judge)

I know they have some injuries but ND is a bad team. Zero line push/running game and Kiser can't hit the broad side of a barn. Kicker missed an EP. MSU may beat them badly next week.

Well, they led Idaho State 49-0 at the half, but many teams clubbed their baby seals in similar fashion this weekend, even Marshall, so take what you will from the box score.

Does anybody know when the Vegas betting lines come out for week 3? I'd be curious to see what the bookmakers think. Not a dispositive prediction of course, since they pick the spread just to get a nice hedge on the bets, but it's useful to see nonetheless.

CU Fan here, to answer some questions and correct some misconceptions for you all.

Game 1 CU vs CSU 44-7

This game was about as far from the expectation as could have happened. The CSU offense is virtually untouched (minus Hollywood Higgins at WR) from a year ago. That offense put up 500 total yards including 218 rushing yards. Fast forward to this year, and that same offense only managed 225 total yards including 162 rushing yards which predomanately came in the 2nd half when CU had put in the 2nd string. The CU Defense held CSU to 6 straight 3 and outs to begin the game, and didn't allow a score until midway through the 4th when they were already up 37-0.

Game 2 CU vs ISU 56-7

No one will claim this was anything but a total shellacking of an inferior opponent. The CU defense didn't allow a score until a fumble late in the 4th quarter by our 4th string running back. They allowed 96 total yards of offense.

The defense is good. Potentially great. The game against CSU tells us alot based on the recent history, but it doesn't tell the full story. That won't be answered until the boys travel to Ann Arbor.

Also in regard to our Pac-12 record last season. It is true we went 1-8, with our only win coming against Oregon State. That being said we lost 4 games by 7pts or less. The problem the team had last year was allowing our opponents to put us in a 2-3 score hole before we fully responded.

other 4 losses

CU vs Oregon L 41-24, CU was actually tied at half time.

CU at ASU L 48-23, One of only 3 games CU wasn't really ever in.

CU vs Stanford L 42-10, McCafferey doing McCafferey things

CU at WSU L 27-3, Sefo Liufau was out and this was our 2nd string QB's first game. The offense was ineffective and with no support, the defense just couldn't keep up with the Pirate's team.

CU is definitely better than last year. Especially right now as we are fully healthy. Is it enough to win in Ann Arbor? Probably not. Comes down to whether or not that defense is legit. I am however expecting a close game. One that is being fought well into the 4th quarter with UM eventually pulling out a 10-14pt victory.

Colorado has a new Offense this year and it's very up tempo ..small and quick skill players and based on the Texas Tech pistol of Leach -> Kingsbury. The D is undersized and nowhere the level of UCF's I would expect CU to start well but get behind and start pressing -- similar to the prior two games, UM is bigger and more talented and should be able to force their will on to Colorado. As for all the posts about the state of Colorado ...it sucks. It sucks really, really bad. Don't move here, it's awful.

Starting Offense

QB - 6'-4" 230

TB - 5'-8" 190

FB - 6'-2" 260

TE - 6'-3" 250

WR X - 6'-2" 190

WR Z - 5'-11" 180

WR Slot - 5'-9" 185

LT - 6'-5" 295

LG - 6'-4" 295

C - 6'-2" 305

RG - 6'-3" 300

RT - 6'-6" 295

Starting Defense

DE - 6'-3" 300

NT - 6'-3" 325

DE - 6'-4" 295

OLB - 6'-3" 250

ILB - 6'-1" 220

ILB - 6'-0" 230 or 6'-3" 230 ( depending on who starts)

OLB - 6'-5" 230

CB - 6'-0" 205

CB - 6'-1" 190

S - 6'-1" 215

S - 6'-0" 205

I would agree we are undersized at RB and ILB. But that is about it. Plenty of size and depth at WR in the 3 deep.

I will defer to you and the stat sheet, but in watching the CU/CSU game and some highlights from yesterday vs ISU, it's just a different game based on the size/speed.

Bobo is the real deal and a nice replacement for Spruce and Sefo Liufau has the poise and leadership you want ...the tempo will be a problem for the M Defense for the first drive or so, and it will be interesting to see how they respond.  I think the UCF offense under Frost and the "Oregon tempo" was a good test and indicator for next week.

I am a Buffs fan and have been my whole life - they are my #2 program after Michigan and I hold degrees from both Universities.  My grandfather and other family are CU Alumni and my company as a suite on the 45yd line at Folsom.  I will be in A2 next week and know of a few BUFF tailgates on the golf course and will be at Folsom for the UCLA game on November 3rd.

I used to always go to Nebraska when played in Boulder but so far the Utah game hasn't had that same appeal and lived in Boulder right after graduating from UM - was there at Folsom for Hail Mary, II in 1996.

GO BLUE!

GO BUFFS!

Will be interesting to see if they can convert some of last season's close losses in the P-12 into wins and get back into the Bowl Games.

Too late - me and about a million other people who moved to California over the past couple decades have decided we've done all we can to drive up prices and drive down quality of living here. We've packed up our luxury SUVs and are heading your way.

We've just got to make a quick stopover in Vegas to double our savings first, so we can be ready to outbid each other for Denver area real estate...

I don't think anyone misses the BIG12. Much better road destinations and many more alumni in the PAC12 states. The conference play is much tougher, but that only prepares you to work harder. I am also glad that the ties with the University of Texas are cut, we don't need to play their conference politics.

The big 8 was a great fit for colorado. Lots of history, rivalries, fans etc. The addition of the texas schools to make it the Big 12 changed the cultural make up of the conference. Ever since then Colorado has kind of felt like an outsider. So when the Pac-10 came calling for a second time, it was a no brainer. Much larger alumni base on the west coast, much better travel destinations, much better fit academically.

The only downside is CU made the conference switch when the buffs were at their lowest and the conference was at its peak. Thankfully things are beginning to even out.

CU fans are definitely interested to see how the tempo offense travels. In the opener they ran it to perfection and completely gassed CSU in the 1st quarter. They ran it to start the game against ISU, but seemed to slow down pretty quickly once we got up 2 scores. Offense got very vanilla from that point on.

I think they will end up a solid bowl team. Ideally, Lewis could come back and shut down one side of the field. Their QB and up tempo offense could be one of the best we'll see in the regular season. I'd expect our passing game to do some damage again. Our pass protection is really good and Butt/Chesson/Darboh is one of the best 3 headed monsters in college football.

They're good enough for us to play hard, play well, get some starters and backups some more experience, find out who's who, and have another beautiful fall weekend in Ann Arbor.

Actually a donor and fan of both schools and cannot wait to go to the game Saturday. That said I will add a little on CU: Offense is adding new elements of the Texas Tech offense, very up tempo and dink and dunk passing plays. Expect a few deep shots to Fields and Bobo. Not much usage of the tight end in the passing game so far this year. Running game will be more north/south with Lindsay, while Lee and Evans are the shiftier backs. Liufau has been making reads better than in years past. He is big and likes to tuck and run. Can make the big plays, but has also been mistake prone during his career. Defense has been vastly improved. They have been swarming to the ball more than any CU defense I have seen in over a decade. DBs Awuzie and Thompson will be playing on Sundays. That said it will be a big task with Chesson, Darboh, and Butt. LB is the concern due to depth and injury concerns. Gillam showed signs of greatness as a freshman, but has never returned to form after a concussion 2 years ago. DLine has been getting a good push in the running game, but has not been getting to the passer very much. Special teams features kicker Diego Gonzalez, who had issues last year but has been solid so far. Based off what has been seen through 2 games I see a game that will be competitive into the 3rd quarter. Then I see the depth and athleticism of Michigan being too much. Colorado has been in many close games the last two seasons, and just hasn't made the big play to get over the top. Michigan wins 35-24.

Thanks for that extensive write up was a good read.

UCFast had tempo too...that didn't last that long.

Michigan wins 53-0...Harbaugh calls off the dogs in the early 3rd quarter.  I think he's gonig to ramp it up the machine a bit on this game to prepare for B1G play.  I wouldn't be surprised if you guys did score a few times but I think the D squad is wanting a donut bad.

I think if Michigan plays their game, they can handle them. Colorado is a better team than Hawaii and Central Florida. Yadi yadi, good test before Wiscy.

I'm in the camp that thinks Colorado is quite good. I'm concerned about this game far more than PSU the week after. Not sure Brown has had enough time to get all of his phases in for the D vs. up-tempo, TT-type offenses. Especially given the fact that before the season, no one was expecting Colorado to be a challenge. I sure hope Brown wasn't waiting until the bye week, for example. We'll see.

Maybe it's just the scarred inner Michigan fan in me, but I can totally see us losing to the Buffs and Iowa, beating MSU and OSU, and then feeling this season was yet another missed opportunity. Hopefully Harbaugh ends that tradition.

As RollDamnBuffs said up above, it's going to come down to the two defenses. I think ours should come out ahead, but I've thought that before.

Don't underestimate them. This could be a game that we could really use the help of Lewis, Taco and Mone. They are pretty athletic and they've got a coach who has them believing they can win some games. Hasn't looked like that there in a long time. Their secondary is really good. In the end we have too much depth, talent and weapons for them to compete of we're on our game. We'll need to come out ready to compete though because they will definitely be up for it. They will win some games in the Pac12 this year for sure
