Anyone have a complete list of the freshman who saw the field today?

Based on what?

Well, Speight did have that one mistake where he threw that interception, and we all know true freshman QB's never make mistakes.

Besides maybe O-line that takes time to develop, if you can get freshmen that are good enough to see the field on a top 10 team, you're program is in great shape.
We have a lot of talented seniors on this team and it is important to get this great freshman class some experience for next year. Harbaugh will recruit elite classes and freshmen will play when they are deserving.

I doubt that more than 12 will be actually drafted.

Don't know, but at one point the announcers were saying 13 (out of the 15 mentioned this week), had been in the game at that point.

I feel like the lost RS are a direct reflection of what the coaches know they have coming back in 17- not much besides the QBs.

We're loaded at TE with good young players. I was very surprised that McKeon played. Gentry needs as many snaps as possible to see if he fits at TE.

Great coaching. I mean, on a second watch I'm going to look at the end of the first half on D. But that is a nitty nit to pick. Very good stuff overall, obviously.
I would have taken some starters out earlier.
And Sam Webb is reporting that World Wide Wes was in the building. These coaches aren't just winning on the field, they are killing it in marketing, too.

True story on that nitty nit:
Sitting in my section with my kid today and Michigan is only up 35 - 0 at that point...
Guy two rows back is going ape-shit on the defense yelling repeatedly about the defensive coaching and how these players need to "get their heads in the game"
35-0...

had them play aggressive and kept the pedal to the metal.
We got what many of us wanted. A big win with lots of backups seening action.

I suspect there's a lot of stuff in Brown's gameplan that takes time to absorb. I'm glad we have some lighter games for the team to continue to refine it before we need to have it dead-on correct.
September 3rd, 2016 at 10:43 PM ^
I also wonder how much he went vanilla today using stuff that he has historically run vs. more interesting stuff he might run on spread etc.

...and give them some payoff for working out all summer and fall camp, and get something on film to critique and motivate them to get better.

When they did (finally few minutes of the half) they chewed up the defense. On that possession they had two 15 yard penalties and still managed to get it near the goal line. The only reason why they didn't play it in the second half is they went with a new QB who is still learning the system and the Hawaii coaching staff knew the game was not winnable.
Our defense is not ready for a spread offense despite Brown being supposedly a guru in defending against it. The pass rush was none existent. I believe they had one sack when the game mattered.
In short, they need to improve substantially especially against spread teams.

At this point, it's a non-issue for me. Brown didn't wanto to show that much of our defensive packages. After all, it's Hawaii, FFS.
September 3rd, 2016 at 11:52 PM ^
I imagine one of the main ways Brown stops the spread is with his exotic blitz packages. There is no point in blitzing when your up big like that.

As well, he was leading by a ton at that point. While he may well (assuredly does) have scheme on spread) he's not going to be showing that during Hawaii or USF (FWIW).
Makes no sense to put anything new that he's doing out there yet on video.

Sort of surprised me. O'Korn must have looked sharp enough to JH so that Harbaugh decided to give Shane and Alex some minutes before the schedule gets tougher and those latter two's playing time diminishes.
September 4th, 2016 at 2:54 AM ^
I think Harbaugh decided since things were going well, he would get all four some snaps- home opener and all, a reward for going through camp, etc. It loooks like they tried to play as many people as they could. Look for that again next week, if all goes well/
My guess is we will see a lot more of O'Korn next week.
September 4th, 2016 at 1:44 PM ^
I think it's crystal clear that Harbaugh plays the QBs according to what's needed: last year Rudock plays 98% of the nabs when healthy - but he didn't get to campus till 8/1/15, so he needed the starter to the reps. it was Rudock or bust past eyar and Harbaugh knew it.
This year, it seems Speight won the battle allegedly "not by a small margin" according to Haurbaugh (I think it was him who said it yesterday). WS knows the play book (been here since Harbaugh) and I'm sure could use some more reps, but I think they feel like they need to develop depth and sustain competition for the #2 guy at the QB position.

Not a perfect performance by any means, but Michigan looked to be in mid-season form today. Very few of the typical first game mistakes. That was what jumped out at me the most about this game.
September 4th, 2016 at 12:05 PM ^
After seeing the press conference, I really feel that all of Harbaugh's antics (i.e., social media, twitter posts, etc.) are just for show. He is not crazy. He is just a really good football coach who loves the game and loves Michigan. May he be here the rest of his coaching days.
