Jerseys from China

Submitted by jeff_91121 on

I took the chance a few weeks ago and bought 3 jerseys from China, an old Nike style Woodson away jersey, an away CCM style Yzerman jersey, and an away Verlander Majestic style. They all cost around $20 each along with $20 to ship and $20 for insurance. I'm pretty impressed with the quality of all of them. I went back and forth with sizing when I bought them and I wish I had gone one size bigger with the Woodson jersey but the other 2 fit great. Granted I don't know how they will last after several wash/dry cycles. I've wash and dried them all once and there was no bleeding or threads coming loose.

To those who are against buying "replica" jerseys from China, I get it, but I just can't rationalize or afford to spend a couple hundred dollars on a jersey.

To anyone that has any questions about the jerseys, ask away. I am not sure what the rules are for posting the site I used but if it is ok to post that info I will. Honestly most of the sites I looked at had the same products.

I can also post pics if anyone is interested.

No jersey is worth what they charge in the USA. They are just shirts but cost well over $100 for an "authentic" jersey. Ridiculous.

Doesn't matter where it was made. Two things are being conflated here:

  1. Where stuff was manufactured.
  2. The quality of the stuff manufactured.

The quality of the fabric, and the craftsmanship of the tailoring/sewing, is what is important. You can buy crap made in the USA and crap made elsewhere. Likewise, there are high quality items made both here and abroad.

I'm old enough to remember when "Made in Japan" was a sign of shoddy workmanship. This was true in the 50's, and even into the 60's. But they caught up. Eventually, there was a time when automobiles with Japanese nameplates were seen as being of better quality than those made by GM, Ford, or Chrysler (let alone AMC).

I will gladly pay a bit more for an American made item, to support workers in the USA. But I won't pay a lot more for something that is of comparable or worse quality.

Nor am I naive enough to think it is made anywhere other than China or a country in that region. I really don't care where it is made, but I do care that it uses the actual materials named on the tag to construct it and that every detail is up to par with the real game jerseys that our gridiron heroes wear. My point was that there is a huge difference in the quality and durability of a Nike replica jersey and Chinese knockoff jersey for $20. I hope your knockoff is everything you want it to be. I know the real one is and always will be. Go Blue !

The stuff coming out on China's '3rd shift' is just a cheaper version attempting to circumvent IP The same factory making Jumpman may very well be leaking/making the Jumpguy line which looks ....oddly just like Jumpman. And $20 for a jersey that lasts 5yrs might be a better value than $135 if you rarely wear it. That said, the Chinese NFL jersey I ordered thru a coworker ordering from those sites, sucks. Totally starting to show wear from laundry so now unless totally dirty, no laundry. It's cheapness is showing but again, $20 + shipping 5yrs ago

We actually had a thread a few weeks ago, I believe, where someone posted about this very thing and - yeah, it went not so well - but otherwise it wasn't terribly offensive. I would hate to think, in all honesty, that the university and Nike took anything posted on a fan site so personally in this instance. The OP can take his licks and like it - that is to say, he has no choice, he has to like it so long as the post stands.

ITT, people who think buying licensed apparel = buying American. Nike is one of the worst companies when it comes to off shore manufacturing and has a history of controversial labor abuse issues going back 4 decades.

Device made by an 8 year old girl chained to a table in indonesia. No more bickering about where shit is made. Like a hot dog ... You really don't want to know how they are made.
