Ann Arbor # 1 place to live in Michigan
Hockey?
I've been their briefly. It seemed like an older ex-industial town without much going for it. But it was a short visit. Not too fare from Pittsburgh and driveable to Ann Arbor.
Meridian Township is also listed at 10th but contains both Okemos and Haslett.
damn.... missed the cut again.
Also grew up in Brighton. Moved back after a while before leaving again. Looking back on both experiences, I have to wonder if there is a place that could be any more intentionally insular than Brighton. Yes, there was a small-town feel to it because of the downtown area, but the attitudes of the people, particularly the leadership, were distinctly 'us vs. them.' Very Stepford-esque. They do a fantastic job of hiding the poor.

My hometown. Not too sure on the culture thing lol.... but agree on everything else. This list may factor in how convienent shopping etc.. is.
Living in St. Joe if you wanted to go to a mall (other than going to Kohl's) you have to travel to either South Bend or Kalamazoo. It kind of gets old after awhile.
Belong to Ann Arbor - tax dollars at work
When I was voting there is was potholes vs the homeless. When the roads get bad enough they change mayors and fix the roads. Once the roads are better they then change mayors and put money towards social programs.
No one lives in the UP because there are no jobs and it is cold as hell. Beautiful place though.
Well those of us with good jobs that aren't complete wusses are glad there are more candy ass trolls that can't handle a little chill!
I'd take 9 degree weather over 90 degree swamp any day of the week. Ladies love the sauna, pard ;p
when it ranks Midland ahead of Traverse City, Holland and all of the west side lake towns. I'm in Midland a couple times a year, it ain't terrible but I'm taking most anywhere Michigan before Midland.
