OT - Your All-Time Favorite Movie is.....?
Mates,
I haven't been to a movie in years and can't tell you the last one I did see in a theatre. However, oldest son asked me to take him to see 'Captain America - Civil War' as a birthday gift since his birthday was last week and we just got back. He enjoyed it so I'm glad, but I must admit that I'm too old to really enjoy those types of films much, but also that they did have a few good one-liners mixed in toward the end of the flick.
I am adding a link here to the highest box office grossing films, which was a discussion we had on the way home. I was surprised to see how many titles that I had neither seen nor heard of : http://www.the-numbers.com/movie/records/All-Time-Worldwide-Box-Office
So, with a nod to the Monday thread about favorite war movies, what are the Mgobloggers all-time favorite movies?
EDIT: Should've done it by decade. Just looking at the 80's you have a boatload of classics: Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Caddyshack, Field of Dreams, and on...
Have a great weekend, Looks like Lake Michigan is warm enough to swim in, so might try that tomorrow with the sons.

Boondock is probably a top 5 for me. T2 probably top 10.
My girlfriend and I watch "Ten Commandments" every year, but just for the kitsch factor. This year we created a drinking game: You have to do a shot every time one of the characters says "Moses, Moses!"
After the first hour we were bombed, so I don't know how it ended. Did the Hebrews make it out?
they pulled it out with a 'red sea' option, closing the lane right after they scored...you shoulda seen it. there were chariots floating everywhere.
Damn. I always miss the big plays.

Goodfellas >>>>>>> watching an elderly lady wipe her ass > The Godfather
are def in my top 5. +1 to you good Sir.
I would add a few Old Skool John Waynes or Clint Eastwood. Red October is another one of my favs.

+1 for "A Christmas Carol," but which version? I like them all, but for me, there's no better than the 1951 version with Alistair Sim.
No other move made such an impact on me when I saw it in the theatre for the first time. Since CGI wasn't really mainstream yet, I was truly convinced that they must've made real dinosaurs like they explained in the movie and filmed them. I was 11. :-)
And you have to admit, the CGI even holds up well today.

Godfather is cinematic perfection.
People talked about the Godfather movies for a long time, and I didn't believe they were as good as they are. I love those kind of movies, and so I eventually convinced myself to watch them. They are some of the best movies ever made.
take the Cannoli.
but to pick just one "The Hunt for Red October"

That's hands down my favorite sub movie (no, it's actually really good).
I love The Hunt for Red October, for the record.

The Dark Knight is my all time favorite movie, and I believe it is one of the best movies of all time. I know it is not the best, but my personal opinion says it is pretty high on the list.

Oh yeah there is no doubt about that. I don't know why I love it so much, but I do believe that the acting job he did was just crazy good. I was relatively young then and I don't even think I realized that he had passed away until I had seen the movie multiple times.

Ghostbusters.
The cast is amazing, and it's one of the most quotable movies I've ever seen.
"Hey Egon, remember that time you tried to drill a hole in your head?"
"That would have worked if you hadn't stopped me."
three times during its theatre run.
Frito! Say you're sorry, goddamnit. [insert tasty burger reference; wipe it on face]
