Hes a serial couch burner with a Bo Callahan vibe.

is how Dantonio basically had to put together a leadership team so that way Connor Cook wouldn't get as much flack. I dont care how many leaders you have, if your 3rd year starting QB that's also a senior isn't elected captain by his peers, something is wrong.
April 29th, 2016 at 11:32 PM ^
Especially on a team that has been winning! Has Mork ever explained how that could happen???
April 29th, 2016 at 11:40 PM ^
most coaches would rig the vote for the quarterback if it was close! There has to be some real issues with Cook in that locker room that Dantonio can't even name him the starter in an election without the players thinking it was fishy.
there's a 0.0% chance that photo has anything to do with Connor Cook's fall, but then I would be discounting how inately stupid the NFL Draft scouts can be.

Big difference between the talent of Nkemdichi and Cook. One has the talent to be a superstar and the other never completed 60% of his passes. Cook is a career backup at best. If he ever starts in the NFL it will be because his team is desperate.

This IS a new Lions regime!
GO BLUE!
(Hope they're planning on him being a center, of course.)

but the Lions had more pressing needs at DE, LB, S, and WR.
Once again the Lions are depending on scraps to fill out their defense. What a stupid franchise.

Fuckin Debbie Downer over here man. Just be happy one of our student athletes made it to the big leagues and take a chill pill.
April 29th, 2016 at 11:18 PM ^
I'm happy for him, but as a Lions fan this is not a good selection. Too many other holes needing to be filled.
Plus, it's the fucking Lions. Who in their right mind would wish that on a Michigan player?
April 29th, 2016 at 11:24 PM ^
Graham is a great/smart player who will help our DEAD LAST rushing game improve and give Stafford more time to throw. This is a great pick because we are getting better in the trenches where football games are won and lost. I can't remember the last time the Lions had a good offensive line and now it looks like we are putting the pieces together to get one.

The Cowboys have a great OL and went 4-12. Try again.
April 29th, 2016 at 11:58 PM ^
their starting QB and #1 WR missed most of the year. try again.
April 30th, 2016 at 12:05 AM ^
Try again, Champ.
April 30th, 2016 at 12:20 AM ^
You're the one who was arguing that NFL teams only carry 6 OL so being a Connor Cook (read: douche) and putting that smarmy Champ in there is the most persuasive. /s
You need to learn when to quit, cuz

Get a grip. We had one of, if not the worst, offensive line last year. Pass protection sucked and rushing was even worse. While there's more than one hole on this team, OL had to be a priority and Decker and Glasgow are two guys who can help, especially in the run game. Add on grabbing a DT who was luckily still available, and I have no idea what you're bitching about. I suppose just for the sake of hur-hur, it's the Lions, type bitching.

The players who improved under Schwartz mysteriously could not block under Caldwell. Swanson was in his first season as a starter last year in a generally terrible scheme.
OT was a problem. Center more questionable. Either way the Lions defense desperately needs help at DE, LB, and S. Right now the Lions don't have a starting OLB, an strongside DE, or SS.
C could never be a priority over that. Not for a well-managed team.

You can get solid centers in free agency.Plus, they just spent a 3rd on Swanson two years ago.
Meanwhile the defense continues to be neglected. Levy has so many years left and they don't have starters at safety, OLB, and DE.Oh and they need another WR as well.

were winning Super Bowls. Plus, they can get away with a less-than-stellar defense because they have Brady. The Cowboys had a great OL and sucked ass.
Great OL play is far from a prerequisite to winning Super Bowls in the modern era. People obsessing over the OL forget that defenses are an essential part of winning championships. You can get by with an average OL. You can't with defense unless you have an HOFer at QB which the Lions decidely do not have.

3-1 last year with romo. 1-11 w/o. now explain the problem with the cowboys last year.

You're such a pleasant guy Salvatore, you should post more.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. Quinn has come out publicly stating that Center was one of their worst positions last season and Swanson just isn't good enough for this team.
There is more than one way to aquire players. And defense is well below the offense in terms of fault here in Detroit. And you have to know that this team needs more than 1 draft to turn it around. Take what you can when you can, patch over the rest for the next year, and get the rest in years 2 and 3.

Last year was Swanson's first season starting and he had to run Lombardi's asinine system for much of it. Glasgow is a similiar talent and the Lions had more pressing needs.
