LOINS

The most Lions play ever.

Aaron Rodgers would have to outrun 4 DL in order to be able to legally pitch the ball again........and you do that.

I didn't think it was...Rodgers was ducking his head. His hand certainly hit the facemask, but there was no pull or anything like that. He pulled the jersey collar.

That said, you still rush 4 and account for the trail man...how many hail marys do you see that are caught or tipped back to the trail man?

I've never coached football a day in my life and I know you do that. Hell, Hail Mary plays are designed to go to the trail man.

Was Calvin Johnson in? Fuller? If not, why not? Why have all those LBs? They weren't going to do the lateral thing again at that point - it was too close.

If you didn't have time to change personnel after the penalty, call timeout, there was 0:00 on the clock.

So many things they could've done differently.

I do feel bad for the Lions, but only because "the punt" still lives within me...so I hate to see anyone go through that nutpunch. But at the same time, I'm glad I don't root for that team (or any NFL team) anymore.

A lot more relaxing when you don't care who wins.

I don't disagree that it could be an easy mistake. I was just saying that in hindsight it was a weak call.

But it's not like it's 100% inexcusable unless it was a reviewable play and they didn't review. Which I don't believe it is...I'm 99.9% sure it isn't. So in that case, I can totally see why it was thrown, but yea, if I'm a Lions fan...it is a tough break. No question. Because he really didn't do much other than hit his facemack and grab his jersey collar.

GRASPING FACEMASK

Article 5 No player shall twist, turn, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction.

Penalty: For twisting, turning, or pulling the mask: Loss of 15 yards. A personal foul. The player may be disqualified if the action is judged by the official(s) to be of a flagrant nature.

A.R. 12.12 Third-and-10 on A30. Runner A1 runs to the A33, where he is tackled by B1, who incidentally grasps A1’s facemask on the tackle, but it is not a twist, turn, or pull.

Ruling: A’s ball, fourth-and-seven, on A33. No Foul.

Fuck Green Bay.  Fuck Aaron Rogers.  Hope Seattle's D-line obliterates you come the playoffs.

Does Detroit actually have to sacrifice a living creature to get a call or two to go our way?  You figure the league owes us after "The Calvin Johnson" rule, the playoff game against Dallas, Seattle, and now this.

Never so quickly does a thread go from cheerful boasting to an epic collapse as these Lions threads. Sorry for the loss, but as soon as they went up 20-0, I knew the other thread (and now this one) were in for an especially entertaining night.

This was only the second most Lions play ever. The first most Lions play ever was Megatron fumbling the winning touchdown out the back of the end zone on MNF.

So I texted my friend during the 3rd quarter "it's not over with them until there's 0 seconds left on the clock."

Turns out that even when there are literally 0 seconds left...
