Michigan #12 in CFP Rankings

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

OSU - #3

Iowa - #5

MSU - #9

(Michigan is now the second 2-loss team as they're behind #11 Stanford. That said, the Wolverines will jump Stanford with a win over OSU, and assuredly with a win over Iowa).

That's fair, but they're not getting a pass imo. OSU isn't #1, for one, and for two, they returned a lot of guys from last year and 10 games in are still 10-0. It sure hasn't been pretty, but their spot in the top 4 isn't even In question at this point, much the same as FSU last year. And ND doesn't have either of those things (not undefeated, not defending champs), plus no marquee win...and they should be in the top 4? That's hogwash. Okie State and Oklahoma have better overall resumes than ND right now...well, Oklahoma at least has a very strong argument over ND even despite losing to Texas (somehow).

Their lone undefeated team, which does scream fraudulent, can't top ND and Oklahoma can't get past ND either despite beating a team the committee still think is top 10 material.  Dumb.

If we win out, we finish in the Top 5 regardless if we make the playoffs or not. Probably in the Top 3. I still think there is a very legitimate shot at making the playoffs if we beat an undefeated OSU and Iowa. Probably better than 50/50

hoping for them to be the flavor of the week because they will lose to Clemson and be irrelevant.  I saw us at 12 and was just really hoping that it would be TCU or NC that jumped us instead of Stanford staying ahead of us.  Part of me is just glad the Committee did not just completely jump ship on us and have us at 15 or 16.  They are taking a firm "show me" approach to Michigan and luckily, we may still have an opportunity to do just that.

Win out and then see where it falls out. If we win and look good doing it, we should be okay. Right now, we're struggling a bit. If the defense comes back around, offense keeps looking solid, and we are B1G champs, we have a solid shot, but it's a very long shot at this point.

Think about last year...can we stop to realize how crazy it is that we're discussing this mid-November?

Damn this is nice. I miss it. I want to hold this relevance hostage and never it go.

Please remind us all of this in case of us losing to Penn State, or winning out and getting left out of the playoffs. I think some of us are getting a little ahead of ourselves when in reality an 8-4 season in the first year of a new coach is very good.

But I'm afraid the Michigan arrogance is back here to stay.

In the end...I just want us to play well and beat the teams we should beat.

Even playing at our best, we weren't ready to beat Utah. We did beat MSU. We better beat PSU...and I think if we give our best, we're 50/50 with OSU. Even if those teams play their best.

So that said, I'd be disappointed if we lost to PSU and/or got smoked by OSU because we clearly didn't play our best.

I judge my disappointment on best vs. best...at the beginning of the year, I don't think we were better than Utah if we played our best (then). If we played them today and played our best versus theirs...we win by double digits.

MSU was a toss up for me, OSU the same. If both PSU and Michigan bring their best on Saturday, we should still win the football game.

...but you're right, the meltdown on not making the playoffs considering where we were would be stupid. I can't imagine what it would be if we DO go undefeated the rest of the way and get left out. I don't even want to think about it.

Pass Stanford if they win out. Having said that, how in the hell did they keep Stanford ahead of UM? Common opponent of NW, Stanford lost and UM obliterated NW. UM has superior losses also.

Because USC is ranked now. And both teams they lost to are ranked also. It is BS, but us not winning comfortably against IU and MN probably hurt us. If we win against PSU on the road, we will be above Stanford.

We still have a good schedule but if Stanford beats nd and wins the pac12 how can they choose between Michigan and Stanford? Both teams will have 2 losses conference champs

We will have wins against OSU #3, Iowa #5, NU #20ish, PSU, BYU. Close losses to UTAH and MSU.

They will have wins against USC (ranked), UTAH (ranked), ND #4 and UCLA. Close losses to Oregon and NU.

Since we have better wins (#3, #5) and we beat the team that beat them confortably, we will be in over them.

At least, that is my logic (and hope). Go Blue!

Iowa, OSU can be put out by us. Sparty will be taken out by OSU. Notre Dame and Stanford still have to play. Baylor, OK State, OK, and TCU might take each other out in the next two weeks. There is a shot here. Most important is keep winning.

Simple. Stanford beats Notre Dame. Clemson and Alabama win out. Whoever wins the Big 12 gets in. Ohio State beats Michigan State. Michigan wins out.

Clemson, Alabama, Big 12 champ, and Michigan are your top 4.

Year 1 of Harbaugh and we are relevant again. Enough success and buzz to build off of and I expect a strong close to the recruiting class.  Next year's team will be loaded and I trust Harbaugh to develop the best QB available.

Wish we had not had the universe shit on us against MSU of course, but we also could have lost 2 road games to meh teams (Minnesota and Indiana) so it kind of evens out.  Would love to win the next 3 games (with OSU beating MSU) and sneak into the playoff, but will require some other lucky outcomes.  However it plays out, we are relevant in year 1 of Harbaugh after not making a bowl last year.

The man is a a coaching savant.
