Nebraska could've hired Chad Morris, Tom Herman, Scott Frost or PJ Fleck even... and they chose Mike Riley... bahahahahah.
Bo Pelini is smiling somewhere at YSU.

They basically got a more accomplished Brady Hoke. I feel bad for them because they are sincerely nice people with nothing else to do in the state.

Until they admit they stole half our '97 Championship

Solich got a bad deal there, but it was kinda like our pressuring Carr to step down. Except for the National Championship. People become dissatisfied with sustained above-average results. I've been happy to see Solich's success post-Nebraska, even if it is in that state down south.

Why Bill Martin was caught off guard is a complete mystery, when just one year prior he'd talked him into staying one more year.
But you're right--I don't know how this "forced to retire" meme has survived.
October 3rd, 2015 at 8:44 PM ^
My bad; I didn't mean to imply that he was pressured to resign by the athletic department. I think we all know that Bill Martin was too busy sailing somewhere to really pay attention to the football team.
I meant that the fanbase had turned against him and wanted him to resign. And were quite vocal about it. Especially after the Appalachian State game, but it had been growing for some time. Fans of teams like Michigan and Nebraska, who have been historically great, are not satisfied with 9-3 and some mediocre bowl game.
You can say that he wasn't affected by this lack of public support, or that that doesn't constitute real pressure to resign. Fair enough. But I don't think he would have hung it up if the team had been performing to their usual standards and everybody wasn't calling for him to ride off into the sunset. But that's just like, my opinion, man.
October 4th, 2015 at 12:16 AM ^
...that he didn't give two shits what the fanbase thought. The people that mattered: his players, his colleagues, his bosses, Bo...they wanted him to stay.
It's also BS to suggest it was because the team wasn't performing to their usual standards. The day he decided he'd had enough, Michigan was 11-0 and #2 in the polls.

I highly recommend the Clemson team entrance if you have never seen it - awesome.

I've never liked Clemson, but their stadium looks like a fun place to watch college football some day. Has anyone here on MGoBlog ever taken in a game there?

Arkansas - Tennessee anyone?

The first half is prime DeBord time. He owns the first half.

Let us know if that one is any good. Florida & Ole Miss looks good but Florida is running away at the moment with it.
October 3rd, 2015 at 7:41 PM ^
Its 13-0. Wouldnt call that running away from an offense that usually puts up 40-50.
October 3rd, 2015 at 7:53 PM ^
yep and fla scored on 2 very short fields. its not like theyre moving the ball and routing ole miss. florida might have finally found a promising qb prospect to develop but theyre def not there yet (and it sucks for fla fans bc theyve had some dominant defenses of late, they just have not had even remotely competent offensive play since meyer left)

ha yeah its pretty stale at this point. thats one of those crazy arguments though i couldve seen it go either way - it boils down to whether the heisman rightfully belongs to the consensus best / most talented / most productive player in the nation or whether it goes to the most valuable player on the best team (or mvp of top 5 type team in general).
the best player in the nation should win the heisman - the mvp of top team should not win by default (though thats often the case) just as age / players class and the like should never influence voting (though it does).
manning winning would not have been a travesty, he was still darn good and it wouldve just been business as usual to hand to nations top qb - but woodson was in fact the nations most elite player and deserving of the trophy so im happy to make that argument

when she was a toddler lying next to me asking who we're voting for. "See the orange team. We don't like the orange team. They played like dogs." Now she's a freshman in college.
As long as UT isn't up by 2 touchdowns at the start of the 4th, they'll be ok.

I wonder if Spurrier resigns post season. 2-3 with another ugly loss. Could be a 3-4 win team.
October 3rd, 2015 at 7:42 PM ^
No one will believe it perhaps, but Eastern Michigan is putting together a drive of sorts against LSU, down 14 as the clock starts to wind down on the first quarter.
...and as I say that, there's a sack which makes it 2nd &19 for Eastern.
October 3rd, 2015 at 7:44 PM ^

I can only imagine they feel the embarassment and lost money is worth it in terms of school recognition. Otherwise I don't know why they keep trying. No one even attends games

Did I hear that right? First time in 50 games that Kansas State is gonna lose a game they were leading at halftime? That's ridiculous. That is some antiDeBordian shit right there.
October 3rd, 2015 at 7:48 PM ^
This will be Clemson's annual breakout game. Clemson 41-35
The Clemsoning will come the following week. Lose to GT 16-13 in OT
October 3rd, 2015 at 7:49 PM ^
Lets see...
MSU and OSU are sleepwalking
Ole Miss needed a miracle fluke + 5 turnovers to beat Bama...
TCU's defense is missing 7 starters
Baylor has no defense
ummm
Is ND honestly the best team in the country right now?
October 3rd, 2015 at 7:50 PM ^
Mississippi is going to lose tonight anyway.
Then again, so is Notre Dame.
