Tell Right Now - How Many Victories This Year

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Reset the predictions right now.  Unfortunately 15 victories is out of reach.  We are 2-1 and have looked pretty good, but not great, in most areas of play.  Still legitimate reason to have optimism and ohio and msu aren't going to want to play us since we will be very dangerous no matter what our record is.

So, call it out right now:  How many wins in the regular season?   I say we are 8-4, shading to 9-3.  We are going to happily surprise a couple of teams, derp a game, but overall, good performance strongly trending in the right direction.

Your win prediction is.....

rounding to 8 wins but with 7 more likely than 9. Could we upset MSU pr OSU at home? Absolutely, but IMO either would be a significant upset and not one I can predict. I see BYU as a near toss-up, and think we lose to Northwestern at home OR Minnesota on the road. It is easy to think about how we might (and should) improve, while overlooking how the comepetition may likely improve as well.

I think we end up 9-4, but I also think we win our bowl game, and I refuse to predict 8-4 for the regular season. So...9-3, we win our bowl game, but some of The_Knowledge's magic dust changes the past to get us to 9-4.

was the most likely outcome, but with Rudock performing significantly below expectations, I'm leaning towards 7 now. We don't have enough offense to beat anyone we're not supposed to, and will probably lose at least one more game that we should win.

8-4, leaning to 7-5. Rudock's struggles have been eye opening and put an unexpected ceiling on the season. Getting stuffed on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 by UNLV was also extremely discouraging and a good, not great defense can't keep bailing them out.

Sticking with 7 wins.

What's crazy is that we still don't know a ton about our team after 3 games IMO.  UNLV and Orgeon State were so bad it's basically comparable to Miami of OH and App State last year.

Now we look like we're heading in the right direction, but we need a QB.  We're going to play sopme teams with much better run defense startinig with BYU, if we can't pass it we will struggle to score.  The defense looks to be very good though.
