We are starting to get close to my political views so this'll be the last bit. I just don't see the harm, so why ban it? I will grant that there is a quite logical argument to be made to expand the definition of gambling to include just about any game where money is on the line. But to me this should not be an exercise in definitions. It's a question of whether a business is so destructive to our society that it should be banned to prevent that destruction. You can extrapolate my frustration with people who get this mixed up to get a sense of my politics and I'm sorry about that. Anyway that's where my personal feelings on the matter come from. That and my own bottom line and that I enjoy playing daily fantasy games because it's an outlet for all this useless knowledge I have about football players. Since I am clearly biased on this, and I am clearly not arguing the same question that the state of Massachusetts is arguing, I will hang up and listen from here.

The early attempts were from Kyl in Arizona. Then Goodlatte from Virginia. Then leach from Iowa. Then helped by Frist from Tennessee. I suppose those could have some Tribal casinos, but the legislative history doesn't really seem to fit with what you're saying.

I gotta say, an injunction on the TV ads would be fine with me. I got nothing against gambling or FFL but enough is enough with these ads and douche bags with giant checks ... All posted while LEGALLY smoking a joint on my Colorado porch and waving at the cop driving by, who waved back.

however how anyone can claim with a straight face that online poker should be illegal yet DraftKings and Fan Duel are legit is 100% beyond me.  There is no possible universe where that should be true.

Either they both should be legal or they both should be illegal.  Period.  I vote for both legal, but if poker remains illegal, you have to ban this stuff too.  However I suspect poker is only illegal due to massive bribes by the Indian casinos.

Horse shit! Dude would be the 3rd most hated man in America after the Obannon's. That being said, a friend of mine started his own site FDS site. Check it out Owntheplay.com

We legalized medical marijuana in Mass like 4 years ago and are still waiting for the first dispensary to open but I bet they'll have Draft Kings closed by Week 3.  Typical Puritanical bull crap from this state.

I'm more concerned about how legit FD and DK are. Haven't played myself because I hear you don't get to see the other peoples teams until after. And it's been alleged that DK had their own team that put to top performers on their team after already knowing their points. Thus cheating to save them from paying out

Because the fantasy contests don't meet the definition of "gambling" in those states (and that's why there's a few states they don't let you play in, because they have different rules/definitions), and the federal law, UIGEA, specifically exempted fantasy sports from the definition of gambling.

About time. Aren't we supposed to not encourage people to gamble? The commercials are awful, their design is awful and the concept is stupid. Why would any football fan enjoy a one-week season? What's the fun in that? Regardless of its legality, I'm sure it will go away on its own like the fad it is.

A friend of mine won about 50k playing nhl leagues in FD last season. He would join the 2$ leagues and put 50 teams in each one. Hit big about once a week. Not sure what his net winnings were but he did pretty well.

Same here. I used to run fantasy leagues by hand 25 years ago. Now I abhor it. Seems that's all anyone cares about in football now... Individual stats. "Oh you're a Bears fan?" "Yeah great game last week!" "Packers beat the Bears" "yeah yeah but Forte was huge for my fantasy team!" *sigh*

Agreed, I've had enough of those adds. I'd also like to stop the scroll of stats at the bottom of the tv screen and just cycle through scores quickly....do we really need to know that so and so has 1 catch for 7 yards?

More or less to look at Fantasy Sports as gambling. I have tried DK I wasn't really a fan of it really I only played free games since I don't want to lose money I'm cheapskate when it comes to gambling.
