To be honest, I don't really care about Starz. We have lots of kids who were highly ranked already. We need development and coaching. Effort. A killer instinct. I'm glad highly rated recruits are interested in Michigan but Hoke was a good recruiter too. Wins solve a lot of problems with recruiting.

that we had a realistic shot at, but it will probably be 2018 before we start competing consistently for championships, even with Harbaugh. We're an 8-4 team this year, maybe a decent chance at 10-2 next year if he can squeeze one good year out of Hoke's upperclassmen and develop a real QB, but 2017 will likely be a drop off, since we lose so many bodies after 2016, with virtually no impact players in place to take over.

Not even close. And he didn't win consistently there over a long period in any case. As noted, he had one high quality year at Stanford; he did not prove he was a consistent winner there either, SF is the NFL, a very, very different thing than college. My point stands. Harbaugh has a lot to prove as a college coach, compared to guys like Meyer, Saban, Dantonio and quite a few others.

Not necessarily a bad eye for talent. Just bad at developing it at the next level. Most of the guys we recruited had interest or offers from all the majors. They have the raw ability, it's just all about the coaching at the next level. I feel overall development and game planning wasn't the greatest under Hoke. I'm glad we have Harbaugh now and I'm sure a lot of guys recruited by Hoke will turn out very good and go to the NFL.

Um, pretty much being a 5 star means you HAVE talent.  Hoke didn't give the stars to his recruits and the services that rate recruits saw TALENT that merited the rankings.  No, not all pan out--just as not all NFL draft picks pan out--but its the best system available at judging TALENT.  Now, DESIRE can mean internal motivation.  But, it can also refer to the appropriate response to external manipulation or COACHING.  To illustrate:  most athletes, in training, do not wish to run extra sprints, and oftimes such extra running is affiliated with punishment or losing.  Now, consider our Sensai Harbaugh~~HE views extra gassers as the SPOILS OF CHAMPIONS and his players are following suit and learning to DESIRE what it takes to be a Champion.  Hoke LIKED everyone, and he was a loveable sort, but no one gave him what they will give JIMMY!

And we all know now just how little it meant. Just can't get too excited about recruits we haven't even signed yet, especially when we've seen how little it means to actually sign loads of top recruits. I'll wait to get excited until I see us getting it done on the field..

Put in CBs for Hawkins and Kareem in the last couple days. The Rutgers guys have been recently picking Michigan for some of the East coast kids including one for Ahmir Mitchell yesterday. Evans and Stewart have been getting a bunch of Michigan picks also so it's not just one guy. Granted the one guy did pick a bunch but if you go back a few days it is clear Michigan is building up tremendous momentum.

Hello everybody, I'm the dude who put all the crystal balls in. There was an error with my crystal ball where I couldn't make or change predictions for a while (hence the horrible avg correct) and I just got around to updating my predictions. It's not like one thing suddenly caused me to make these choices or anything like that.

Wins are going to be what ultimately wins these kids over. Harbaugh definitely has Michigan on the right track, but until the wins start coming in, a lot of these will be uphill battles.

Sorry to be the Debbie Downer.

I looked for other evidence on two prospects WR Ahmir Mitchell and OG Terrance Mitchell (composite ratings .96 and .95. respectively)

A Rutgers insider—not just one UM guy-- flipped his crystal ball yesterday for Ahmir Mitchell. While OSU had a run of five predictions for him a month ago, the most recent month has had 3 in a row NOT for OSU (one uncertain, followed by two UM CB’s yesterday). Moreover, one website* says “With Ohio State (very likely) about to pick up WR Austin Mack this weekend, Michigan will likely be in the drivers seat for good for Mitchell, who could pull the trigger at any time.” FWIW he was seen wearing the UM socks he will be sporting at the Rivals Five star challenge, where he will also be rooming with recent UM lean Nasir Upshur.

The same website also cites reasons to be optimistic about Terrance Davis, which go beyond any single Crystal Ball The site even questions whether he could be the silent commit mentioned by Sam Webb a while ago. Why? Not only have the last 8 Crystal Balls gone to UM—and the only others were to MD back in February. And not only has “Davis has been showing Michigan an inordinate degree of love recently. The authors wildly speculate that he “may have had a little bit of a Freudian slip when tweeting out a picture of Harbaugh at (a recent) camp and calling him “coach”**. He now includes that photo on his twitter page. Granted, it appears with several others: about half UM and half UF related. But he lists UM interest as “warmer” and is “cool” toward Fla (where Nussmeier is his main recruiter).

So, while there is still a long way to go before signing day, there is additional reason for optimism for these two guys.   Does anyone have similar info about the other players mentioned by the OP?

have moved us from 30th rank to the 20th ranked class. I'm sure Harbaugh will have us close to or in the top 10 recruiting class by signing day! If Harbaugh some how wins 10 games then I think we will get a lot of great players by the end of the year. I just hope there is some room left!
