Michigan taking bids from Nike and Adidas
it appears it's down to Nike and Adidas.

Go nike go
Well then I'd better clarify my position.
I like adidas more as a company, however I can't stand most of their Michigan gear. I'm not sure why I like adidas more, but I always have. That said, their shit they've plopped out has paved the way for another company to come in and steal away the Michigan account.
Hopefully one of two things happen. 1) Michigan goes with Nike, and they immediately bring a higher quality to both the uniforms and the fan gear. 2) adidas wins the bid, but they are given a very specific set of circumstances which make them provide higher quality gear.
I'm kind of pulling for adidas to get their heads out of their asses. Barring that, let's go Nike.
I'm not sure why I like adidas more, but I always have. This pretty much sums up the reality of clothing manufacturer allegiances. I don't get why everyone cares so much about this.
I agree.
Me I'm 38, I don't care about most the points made in this thread, I personally, think Nike is a shitty company, and Phil Knight is a douche. So I don't buy there stuff, except on very rare occasions.
Bring back Nike. Or hell, even Under Armour. Just no more Adidas.

Indeed, Nike has no history at all of doing incredibly stupid things with uniforms.

Damn you, Dave Brandon.

I hated the bumblebee uniforms, but we were wearing them when State beat us.
I hated the 'Bama uniforms, but of course, that game was a nightmare.
I loved the uniforms we wore while winning the Sugar Bowl.
I love the original uniforms, as Michigan has won far more games than they've lost while wearing them.
Speaking for myself, it appears as though I really love whatever Michigan is wearing as long as they are winning football games.
C'mon, you have to go all the way and say "I don't care if they wear pink tu-tus as long as we win."
What should be obvious by now is that it doesn't matter the brand, the school ultimately tells the brand whether they want to do dumb unis or stick with the classic. If you want dumb, Nike will do Oregon, Virginia Tech, MSU, etc., and Adidas will do Michigan, UCLA, Louisville. If you want to tell them to keep it classic, Nike will do Alabama, Penn State, etc. and Adidas will do ND (for the most part) and Wisconsin, Indiana (basketball), etc.
Those stupid Michigan outfits are on Brandon/the AD, as much as Adidas.
Now the tear-away jerseys, that's another story....
Adidas messed with ND, Indiana (have you seen their football uniforms?), and Wisconsin in various ways over the years.
Nike has never touched Penn St. and has hardly ever touched Bama
I specifically said ND "for the most part," and Indiana basketball (i.e. the sport with the round ball, not the oblong one).
And I said that Nike did NOT touch PSU and Bama. That's the WHOLE POINT. If you tell Nike to leave it alone, they will. But if you give them free reign, then you get Oregon unis and everything else.
Same would be true for Adidas, they may make a stupid bumble bee outfit but someone has to OK the team actually wearing it on the field.
Remember what happened with Indiana and the Adidas "Made in March" uniforms...

I think we should sign two contracts. One with Nike for shoes and one with Adidas for clothes. I prefer Adidas clothes. My workout shirts, pants and shorts I buy look great and last a long time. I am perplexed why the Michigan gear they develop doesn't look as good. However, having said that I don't really like the stuff Nike has designed for other programs either. I usually like simpler styles rather than the stuff that appeals to 10 year olds. I also prefer Nike shoes and think they just have better quality and more technology built into them.
The one thing I'm certain of though is that no matter who wins the contract people on this blog will be bitching about it within the year. Loyalties seem to run deep.
Just wait until Nike is putting out some of the most god-awful crap that has been seen. The same people who will be doing backflips for Nike will whine about how awful Nike is. It's a vicious cycle. No company is bidding to just make classic Maize & Blue uniforms. They want to put THEIR stamp on it. Adiddas is horrible. Nike is horrible. Under Armor is probably horrible. I just hope they don't get too much of a voice. Harbaugh should get final approval. I trust his judgement.

I JUST DON'T CARE!!!
Some of you guys will find a way to bitch about Nike if they switch, it's not the fashion police.
How does this actually matter to fans? Seriously. If you are worried about getting a new Michigan t-shirt in a certain shade of maize that 4/5 of the USA can't discern from the last, then that's on you not the brand. I have lived a fulfilling life without owning much gear or really going into fits on what the team wears(bumblebee unis excluded) just don't get how this stuff matters. Nike and Adidas can't really fit that much different to gripe about, it's a god damn shirt!!! They could switch to Puma or Reebok and I wouldn't care. Just win please.
Sorry for yelling.
This is the rant we all wanted to write but didn't. Thank you.
what comes around is all around
Eloquent in a special Sunnyvale kinda way, I'll watch your kitties anyday.
When we were Nike we were good.
It's science.
Not science, just a logo on a jersey.

Only two non-Nike schools have won the National Championship(BCS/CFP era) in football. Tennessee in 1998 (Adidas) and Auburn in 2011 (Under Armour).

Apparel companies are all attention whores. Nike, Adidas, under armour etc. Look at Oregon, Maryland, etc. It's up to Hackett to tell our next company that we want to be able to wear our traditional uniforms like PSU, USC, or Texas.
