OT: What's Your Guiltiest Song?

Submitted by Steve Breaston… on

I feel like it's going to be a slow week for the board so thought a lighthearted Monday question was apropos: What is your Guiltiest Song? The one you would sing in your car by yourself but change the channel if anyone else was with you. The song that you would like and claim that it "came with the iPhone." For fun, try to name one Oldie and one newer song.

For me, it's gotta be:

Oldie: "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul

Newbie: "Roar" by Katy Perry

DISCUSS (but silently judge me)

So just to recap the board activity since East German Judge got ripped for the crime of posting the Tiger-Vonn break up we've been treated to such important topics as:

Game of Thrones watch party

HAPPY STAR WARS DAY!

Star Trek Actress (with AA ties I might add) dies at 85

HTTV Fully Funded POSBANG (any excuse for a Posbang it seems)

A pool table is for sale...not just any pool table mind you....it's a MGoPool table!

A baby is born to Bolliver (congrats Bolliver)

Hail & Unite is brought up but thankfully only to point out we dont need it.  Cool video by the way.

And now the OP wants to know our "guiltiest song".  Yes, I can surely see why some of you took East German Judge to task for posting that trash thereby taking away attention from exciting football-related content like those topics waiting to be discussed.

when this becomes a sports blog again.

If there are going to be OT threads then can they at least be about sports? Lots of interesting sports topics out there.

Tommy Tutone. A friend of mine had car trouble outside of Vegas about 15 yrs ago. So there he is stuck in the desert when a tour bus pulls up asking if he needs help. It's Tommy Tutone. He catches a ride and ends up with a front row seat and hanging out with the band after the show. Cool story, bro.

Sounds like someone got run over by the waaaahmbulance.  You've been here five weeks and have bitched about the same thing I don't even know how many times.  This is how the blog has been for years.  Get over it.

almost 200 responses...and you even keep coming back. Something isn't adding up with your logic. Don't click if you're not interestred... you clearly have much more imporant business than concerning yourself with other people who are enjoying something.

She loves Taylor Swift... And so do I... This what I hear in the back seat while I'm driving, "The bakers gonna bake, bake, bake, bake. I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake..."

I did the exact same thing, but is that really a guilty pleasure?  I'm not ashamed of listening to (nearly all) 80s music.

That said...

Old - Like a prayer - Madonna.  It has an aura that I really like, but I'm not going to sing along publicly.

New(er) - Tearin' up my heart - N'Sync.  Yes, I'm a heterosexual male.  The song is still extremely catchy and the lyrics are pretty much spot on.

New - Wrecking ball (not the chorus) - Miley Cyrus. I still hate the chorus, but I like the first verse a lot.

Still hated: Katy Perry songs not named "Hot and Cold" or "Teenage Dream".  I do genuinely like both of those songs though.

I always skip Ignition (Remix) if it comes on and it's not a Friday or Saturday. Some people I know feel that I should be embarrassed by this, but honestly I think it's more embarrassing to be jamming out about the weekend on a Monday lunch break or whatever.

I feel like these guilty pleasures aren't quite guilty (i.e., embarrassing) enough.  Here are the songs where I'm glad they come on the radio, I sing along to, but would be mortified if anyone saw/heard me:

Oldie:  Mandy, by Barry Manilow

Current:  Blank Space, by Taylor Swift

Old: Barenaked Ladies "One Week"  and Smash Mouth "All Star"

Real Old: Modern English "Melt With You" and Wilson Phillips "Hold On"

Newer: Passenger "Let Her Go" and Carly Rae Jepson "Call Me Maybe"

...and of course Rick Astley "Never Gonna Give You Up"
