OT: Where Are You?

Submitted by VCavman24 on

Oftentimes while reading this blog I notice in the comments people mention where they are presently located in the world.  I always (wrongly) imagine that all of the readers are in Michigan, but I am always amazed as to the quantity and diversity of readers' locations.  So, out of curiosity, where are you presently located in the world?

I, for one, am currently in the D.  How about the rest of you?

I haven't been there for games.  I was a weekly PBBG attendee until they stopped being our official bar.  Johnny V's took over a year or two ago, and I went there for a while, but between their kinda crappy food and the ever-dying crowd the last couple seasons, I kinda stopped. Since then, I've been going to the Patio in Mission Hills, which while not an "official" Michigan bar, is owned by a Michigan Alum and usually has a few people there; the crowd just doesn't get hype though (a problem at Johnny's V's as well, but I blame last year's on field product for that), so I'd like to find somewhere with the enthusiasm that used to be at PBBG.

Can't stand Johnny V's. Horrible food. I take my kids, and I at least need something decent for them to eat. The bigger problem for me is my kids' sports schedule. Football games are almost impossible. I usually catch 1 a season at an alumni watching venue.

Seeing some of the extra footage from that, it's lucky they ever got a usable take of "a whale's vagina". Between Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate they showed about ten takes where one or the other couldn't keep it together, and I'm sure there were a ton more.

I'll actually be in Wichita! Just day trips the next two times, though, so no opportunities to find good food. Threw me off last time I was there when they changed the airport name.

I usually stay downtown when I'm there - have been at the Ambassador and Hyatt. Have eaten in Old Town (Larkspur was nice, a couple of other joints were meh, wanted to try Public, but closed when we tried it), Cafe Bel Ami (down the street from the Ambassador, decent french bistro), and the hotel restaurant at the Hyatt, which was quite good, if somewhat overpriced.

Favorite coffee is Espresso-to-go-go. Great espresso, and dude knows what he's doing. Disco ball at 7am is a little disorienting, though!
