Come the fuck on. That is the worst and weakest argument anyone can make about anything. There exists no proof that Section 1.8 did not kill 5 hookers, etc, etc

I am absolutely astonished K State didn't grab him. They have an absurd ability to turn unranked WRs into really good college players, and sometimes NFL players - and he's like two hours down the road from them.
|07/17/2018 - 9:18pm||It’s not the only show in…||
It’s not the only show in town, in a way. Omaha is only a 40 minute drive from Lincoln, and most Omaha fans are ‘Jayskers’ - Nebraska football fans and Creighton basketball fans. Creighton has a significantly larger basketball following than Nebrasketball, and the sense lately is that after Tim Miles made some early strides, the program has regressed. In any event, I was impressed with their atmosphere compared to ours, which I didn’t understand given the historical and current state of both programs.
|07/17/2018 - 3:20pm||This is certainly true - it…||
This is certainly true - it's not something that's likely to change drastically. However, having gone to the away game at Nebraska last year (I now live in Omaha) it was somewhat depressing to see how great their atmosphere was comparatively - the place was totally packed, really loud, and they had a wild student section filling up maybe 1/3 of their lower bowl. And that's a school with NO basketball history whatsoever and with 1 tournament bid (lost in first round) in the last 20 years.

|05/15/2018 - 4:20pm||"Can't and won't be able to detect"||
I disagree strongly with your last point. My research works in profiling circulating miRNAs that are impacted be administration of many foreign substances, including synthetic HGH and depo-testosterone. You can mask chemicals easily, but not your body's reaction to them, which is why miRNAs are a promising avenue for anti-doping research. I used "steroids" broadly because it's a term most people understand, obviously the larger challenge is developing testing for the massive variety of PEDs that do (and will) exist. But don't give up hope! Maybe I'm just passionate about this because it's what I do. Here's some (fairly) basic background if you're interested in miRNAs and their potential anti-doping applications.
|05/15/2018 - 3:59pm||LeBron||
So you're saying it's impossible for an 18 year old to gain 25-30 (based on his listed playing weights) pounds of muscle over the course of over a decade without steroids? LOL
|05/15/2018 - 3:58pm||Exactly.||
People fail to realize that steroids were MORE widely abused in the 80's and 90's than they are today, largely because there was literally no realible testing then. The doping will always be ahead of the testing, but the gap his narrowed considerably. Additionally, the fact that samples are now stored for years after the fact has allowed for an incredible level of certainty of past dopers. You may say it doesn't matter if you get "caught" 4 years later, but the simple fact that we can go back and test for a substance we couldn't 4 years ago helps at least clarify who was and wasn't clean, and may become a good deterrent.
|04/25/2018 - 11:05am||RMNP||
I'll second this. I worked in Grand Lake for two summers, and Rocky Mountain national park is amazing. The window for Trail Ridge road is usually only late May-early August though, so I'm sure a lot of people miss out.

1. Limit video reviews in football/basketball to 60 seconds. If it's not definitve by then, stay with the origional call.
2. Goddammit, call traveling in the NBA. There was a highlight of James Harden's 'excellent' footwork the other night where he makes a 3 off a double(!)-step back move in which he takes 4 steps after he has picked up his dribble. Come on.
2. Reduce the NBA season to 76 games, not a drastic change, but a balanced schedule.

This stat can't even exist until the end of this year. We're 0-5 against teams who finished the year above .500? No one we've played this year has finished the year!
|10/23/2017 - 2:13pm||6-5||
Being 6-5 in the last 11 games is the stupidest 'take' I've been hearing. An eleven game sample is totally not cherry-picked, right? We're also 16-5 in the last 21 (totally not cherry-picked, I swear!). Just doesn't roll of the tongue quite the same though, I guess. If we win our next three games, will people be saying we're 8-3 in our last 11 games (which would be true)?

|08/27/2017 - 8:37pm||Spoils of War||
Spoils of War was an all time great episode. I really liked The Queen's Justice and Stormborn as top 10-15 episodes of the series as well. Beyond the Wall had major issues, and was easily the worst of the season, but probably an average-ish episode of the series all things considered.

|08/06/2017 - 6:10pm||Dorne||
I guess I've enjoyed Dorne in the books. The fact that the show basically decided to skip over that plot virtually completely just gives me the sense that it's irrelavent to the end game, as they (out of necessity) have to cut to the chase.
|08/06/2017 - 6:03pm||Agree wholeheartedly||
I used to get caught up in how "uncrealistic" it was for characters (Littlefinger especially) to get around the continent so quickly, and then had the epiphany that I was missing the forest for the trees. There's not necessarily a set time period (or even a linear one for that matter) between scenes, episodes, and seasons. Better to just enjoy what we get to see rather than argue that we should have had to wait an entire season for someone to get somewhere to see what they would do for realism's sake.
|08/06/2017 - 1:31pm||Books vs. show debate||
I've always thought the books vs. show debate was tiresome. People who read the books think show only watchers can't understand the plot complexity. Show only watchers think book readers just seem snobby and act superior.
My preference is absolutely for the storyline from the books (maybe helped by reading AFFC and ADWD simultaneously according to the 'Boiled Leather' reading order). I thought seasons 5 and 6 of GoT were somewhat disappointing overall, with great action moments.
But God damn if season 7 hasn't been fantastic so far (I've already seen the leaked episode 4 and all I'll say is it's incredible). Every episode has been better than the last, and I think as others have mentioned, the best approach is to enjoy them both for what they are, and realize the 'show ending' may be the only one we get.

What's to prevent boosters from giving $500 handshakes?
Nothing, and it's a lot more money for the athlete, and a lot less work than "watching" a bunch of YouTube videos that give the maker a very small % of add revenue. Paying athletes outright gets complicated, but they should absolutely be able to profit from their likeness.

|04/11/2017 - 9:31am||Plus it screwed over Ohio State||
I felt the same way, I knew then it was only a matter of time, and we were ahead of schedule. Additionally, if MSU doesn't win that game, Ohio State likely goes back to the CFP again instead of MSU (They both ended up 7-1, MSU had head-to-head. Flip the UM-MSU result, MSU is 6-2, and UM and Ohio State are both 7-1, they have head-to-head). Unlike MSU, Ohio State might have had a real shot at winning another national championship. 2015 Ohio State was stacked. MSU got by on fluky wins until getting exposed by Bama.

|12/05/2016 - 8:19am||I second everything you said||
On top of centralized replay, I think it would be awesome if the replay officials were not told what the call on the field was, therefore removing any remaining potential bias to uphold the call another official made.
I actually think rather than needing "indisputable" evidence to overturn a call, it should be 51% certainty. Why do we go with what 1 official saw in real time on the field as our default, when we can have a crew of officials who can look from a variety of angles in real time and slow motion? One of these scenarios seems more likely than the other to produce the most correct call consistently . . .

They did also beat USC by about 100 in the season opener, so that's another top 25 win. The fact that the SEC sucks so badly seems to go overlooked when talking about Alabama though, I agree.
