Helmet Stickers back!
Chris Balas (rivals) is reporting that Harbaugh has decided to bring back Helmet stickers and do away with Legends jerseys. This comes a day after Jim favorited a tweet from a fan asking if helmet stickers would come back this year.
I am not sure about all of the feelings on this board, but I believe helmet stickers were one of our best aesthetic traditions until they were discontinued in the 90's. We had them for all of Bo's years except one, and you can be damn sure that Jimmy's helmet was covered in 'em.
Go Blue!

but with all the great plays in UMs future, make the sticker themselves smaller OR make it more difficult to get one. Seeing osu helmets with all those damn stickers on them looks stupid, as if falling out of bed warrants getting one.

the team/player should have to accomplish something significant to earn one. I've often thought that maybe they should only be used for winning games.

In high school, we got stickers for various things that we did throughout the game (TFL on defense, leading the team in tackles, creating a turnover...or....running for over 100 yards, scoring a TD, being on a special teams unit that scored a TD or created a turnover, being on the O-Line while the offense runs for more than 100,200,250 yards, etc...)
But we only got stickers if we won the game.
I really like the way Harbaugh is instituting his culture of constant competition. In retrospect, we probably all should have seen this coming. Then again, there is no retrospect in real time.

I haven't seen anything like this for Bo or Moeller, but this is supposedly Tressel's sticker criteria. I'm assuming Meyer's isn't much different. Almost all are team or unit oriented.

I don't see anything wrong with team-oriented helmet stickers.
But, hey, it's easier just to assume it's OSU, so it has to be stupid.

If you're looking for a value judgement in my post it isn't there.

Not in your post, but everything that came above it.
there's also the fact that the helmet stickers are really just as much a part of OSU's style/brand/whatever as our wings. A Buckeye player with an empty helmet would look completely off.

I think one of the first Hail to the Victors preview magazines included Bo's sticker criteria. It was very team accomplishment driven.

Why does he call punt return "rangers"?
March 23rd, 2015 at 10:34 AM ^
is exactly what I was thinking of. Never seen the guy on the field before, helmet covered in stickers. Maybe he earned them for playing school.

One sticker for every new tatt. And 10 for pithy tweets about why you are attention the ohio.

I believe this goes here...

is 14 different kinds of awesome.

Great stuff but they need a helmet sticker of a hooker leaning on a lamp post.

One for each class he attended

got his stickers from Urban for turning in his homework.
Er, wait---no. I forgot, he don't play school.

FWIW, Andrew Luck was Andrew Luck and didn't even have a full helmet.
Stanford also had smaller stickers with more space on the helmet.

Peppers will have a completely yellow helmet.

Yellow? I'm disappointed. :(

File this under; 'winning cures more ills than penicillin'. When we are winning games against the Buckeyes those helmet stickers don't seem nearly as annoying.
I don't care if the players have their helmets covered if Jimmy brings back the winning tradition for the next couple decades. Let the coaches/players decide how they want to do it.

I love it. I think that helmet stickers fit perfectly with Harbaugh's meritocracy plan.

That looks terrible and cluttered and ruins one of the best helmets in football. But I guess because it was Bo's idea everyone loves it.

I don't think they look very good. But when you put them next to a rose, they look great!

This, to me, is the primary distinction between our UTL and bumblebee uniforms. If we had lost to Notre Dame and beaten MSU, there's no way that so many would believe that the UTL uniforms were pretty cool and the bumblebee uniforms were hideous.
FWIW, they were both hideous in my opinion, and if we're going to crap all over our uniforms, I'd rather crap on our road ones than home ones, since our home uniforms are the best in college sports.

Sticker thought - maize paw print on clear sticker (blue helmet). Use your imagination here, but you get the idea. Maybe less print on same size sticker as shown here - don't want helmet too maizy. And make it an authentic wolverine paw - unlike whatever this is.
A paw is perhaps the most generic and childish logo in sports. Let's prominently display it on our helmets.

Instead of stickers they should wear the scalps of the vanquished on thier belts.
March 23rd, 2015 at 11:50 AM ^
Yup. It really does look terrible. I don't see why anyone likes it.
The solid yellow ones were much better. Unless you have a super close up the wolverines in the newer stickers don't like wolverines they just look weird, messy and bad. The helmet looks smudged up.
Agreed.
