Your Unpopular Movie Opinions
Since this is today's theme, I've always had a very unpopular view of a certain movie, and would love to hear other's opinions based off of movies and/or actors. Mine: I think Wedding Crashers is a terrible movie, and not funny.

Hangover is awesome.
Hangover II is awful and Hanover III is one of the worst movies of all time.

Agree so much. So much agree.

I'll go a step further and call the Hangover the most overrated comedy of all time. The humor was so forced and predictable. Corny movie all the way around. Then again, Applebees is the most successful restaurant in America...

Anna Kendrick? Yes please. No shame there.

She is below average if you aren't a recluse.

That's why internet nerds are so in love with her. She looks obtainable.
I find her gross and obnoxious. She resembles a hamster.

...we all liked Pitch Perfect, we're just afraid to admit it.
Dudes of a certain age like Mean Girls and The Notebook as well. Just like dudes of an older age liked Dirty Dancing.

Dudes don't like Notebook. Dudes all love Mean Girls and are fairly open about it.

I can't believe that my "thumbs up" for movies here goes to those two, Red Dawn, and Iron Eagle. I had to toss something fairly manly in there at the end.

movies nowadays are mostly recycled ideas and caters to the lowest common denominator. it's now more about profit than an artform.
February 13th, 2015 at 4:37 PM ^
That isn't an unpopular opinion, it's FACT.
February 13th, 2015 at 5:03 PM ^
Kind of like music and American culture in general.

"Kind of like music and culture in general."
Fixed it for you. :)

I partially disagree. Those movies are certainly out there, but they've always been out there. The fact is that people just remember the ones that aren't like that. But movies have always been recycled, there have been tons of remakes and re-imaginings. Some of the movies concidered the greatest of all time are actually remakes.
The fact of the matter is that, yes, you can find similarities between movies. You can find the same in books and music and most everything else. Most ideas have been done. But that doesn't necessarily make movies worse now than in the past. You have to take them for what they are. And I'm typing this while watching "Make Way For Tomorrow" from 1937.

Malik makes beautiful pictures. He has interesting and worthy ideas. But he desperately needs an editor, both for his scripts (which he doesn't much follow anyway) and for his finished film, because he's terrible at actually crafting a story in terms of pacing, flow, etc. But because it's different some claim it's better. Meh

Any Dan DeVito film automatically gets infinite thumbs up from me, regardless of his role in it.

If you argued Frozen was the greatest cartoon movie (aimed at kids) of all time, you'd be in a pretty good spot. It has some really unique aspects that put it in a class by itself -- among one point, it has no evil character, no one who makes kids feel uncomfortable or scared. It has some bad guys, but not like an evil witch. As grownups we don't appreciate that; young girls particularly gravitate to that film because there isn't anything in it that scared or worries them.

he is just a "bad guy" not some scary monster and he "tries to kill her" passively by not helping her, not by actually committing a violent murder. Yeah, at the very end he does actually try to kill Elsa, but you have to have SOME conflict or the movie would suck.
As a father of a young daughter I agree with the above poster these things DO make a difference.

I think Tom Wilson was by far the best actor in Back to the Future 2 and 3.
Also, he has hame some cool videos since then.

The crappy previews alone were enough for me. Never saw the movie, never will.
February 13th, 2015 at 5:37 PM ^
So no, you're not alone. And I really don't understand that. You get the feeling that some people don't even watch the movie before criticizing it.
EDIT: lol at the guy above me

I thought titanic was a boring and dumb movie.Says you and every other person who wasn't a teenage girl in 1997.

While easy on the eyes, Demi Moore nearly ruined "A Few Good Men"
February 14th, 2015 at 7:01 PM ^
But she wasn't easy on the eyes in that particular movie.
