Sirius Radio Reporting that 49ers have given Harbaugh permission to talk to Raiders.

No link but it's referenced on Twitter all over the place. If it's true that Harbaugh is asking for permission, well that sucks. Thought I would share.

It's been about a week that Brian has seemingly believed that there is a better then good chance that Harbaugh was coming to Michigan right?  All of that has been based on what are probably reliable sources, but he's been saying for days that his email box is flooded with credible pieces of info that point to Harbaugh returning to Michigan.  So why last night does he post a front page piece stating that he is 99% sure that it's a done deal?  He has been saying all along it is happening unless Harbaugh has a last minute change of heart.  Yesterday's post doesn't happen because he go a 1000 more pieces of circumstantial evidence - Harbaugh could still change his mind.  That post only happens because Brian has very very very good reason to believe it is signed, sealed, and delivered in writing.

Both team cold end up fined if it's true, as it's a violation of NFL policy to ask for or grant permission until the season is over. That being said, the season will be over in 48 hours so it is possible, they will get permission. I don't think this changes anything though, if Harbaugh hasn't resigned from the 49ers by Monday afternoon then it's time to panic.

Again one loan fake twitter source doesn't change anything.  When he resigns doesn't really matter.

There is no reason for the 49ers to let him talk/go to Oakland.  The compensation they might get would be minimal at best.

Put it his way.  Do you think the Wins would let Babcock go to Toronto if he had a year left on his deal?

I don't believe the crap...however, and i repeat myself from prior postings, if JH takes ANY NFL job after/in spite of all this love, attention, adoration and wooing, then i never...NEVER want to hear his name mentioned on this blog agian.  Except, of course, obligatory bashing and name calling.  Just so you know where i stand before Monday!!!  Now, be done with all this nonsense and come home Jimmy!!!!!!!

How do you know? Maybe he's really been undecided all this time? Keep in mind we have no direct access to the information, and all this is second hand. Yes, if he has no interest he should have said no by now, but if he is still weighing his options, which is quite possible, and Michigan is willing to wait for him, then he's done nothing wrong.

This stuff has really gotten out of hand. We don't know what we don't know, as Jim might say. And the wild confirmation bias seen around here is the thing giving me the most pause at this point.

I don't know what you've been watching/reading...but, if you read this blog and this thread--even with a cynical eye--it's nearly impossible to view JH as being in some distant, uninvolved 50/50 mode.  From Brian's 99% to Feldman (a close friend) saying it's a done deal, to the UM top dogs being in the Bay area today and, now, even  insider NFL types saying he's going Blue, it is extremely disingenuous to deny JH has given FAR MORE credence to the UM move than denying it.  Not sure how you can say "wild confirmation" bias and that Jim doesn't know by this point.  If he wasn't coming, he's had plenty of opportunites to tell his alma mater to move on and not be wasting nearly a month waiting on him.  I will always like Harbaugh the player and i hope, very soon, to embrace him as coach of our Wolverines!!!

It would seem that if Jim Harbaugh now decides to go to the Oakland Raiders after all the love and support that he has gotten from the Michigan faithful, then his heart is NOT in Ann Arbor.  Me thinks he is looking out for #1, that being himself.  I don't blame him, but even so...I question where his loyalties lie  Doesn't see to be with the Maize and Blue....IF he decides to go to Oakland (or any other NFL team).   GO BLUE and HAPPY NEW YEAR (I HOPE)

This can't be good as the 49rs would rather he take a NFL job so they get compensation seeing as they are gonna fire him or let him walk. Letting him walk to college the 49rs get nothing. Let him work his deal with the NFL AND THE 49rs get draft picks, see what's happening here people.

Nothing has changed ... it is/was going to be a long 3 or 4 days either way. For all we know, JH could be stringing along the Raiders to get more money/control in the Michigan deal. Or his agent might just be doing his job and acknowledging all possibilities.

I think you have to expect that even if everything we've been told is true, Harbaugh will talk to the Raiders, if only out of courtesy (after all, it is reasonable to believe tha Harbaugh has an eventual NFL return in the back of his mind, and the Raiders always need a new coach, don't they?). If Harbaugh has given people assurances in the way he seems to have, a polite conversation is nothing to fear--he seems to be a man of some integrity.

Why the F*ck would the 49ers grant permission for JH to talk to the Raiders?? Think about that for a moment.  The Raiders, just across the pond...is the LAST place the 49ers would want JH to go and be successful.

Its 2:36 AM PST and I am calling Bullshit on Sirus Radio....or the fake twitter account or whatever.

It's not legal under NFL rules for a team to ask or give permission for coaches to talk to other teams about jobs.

http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/201…

Key paragraph:

Even without the Rooney Rule, league policy prohibits getting a head start. Another facet of the NFL's Anti-Tampering Policy is that until after the final game of the season:

* No head coach may discuss or accept employment for the current or a future season with another club in the league.

* No club may request permission to discuss employment with a head coach for the current or a future season.

* No employer club may grant another club permission to discuss employment with its head coach for the current or a future season.

It's complete BS.
