Sooo, now Herman can have Head Coaching experience after Harbaugh goes back to the NFL in 5 years, or Miles retires after 5 years?
December 15th, 2014 at 11:48 AM ^
Yeah, but by then Meyer will have a nervous breakdown and Herman will go to the open OSU slot.

Is there any actual evidence that a sexual relationship and an ultimatum from the wife was behind leaving Florida? It sounds like the story could have been made up by his detractors.

I don't know. Is there any actual evidence that Craig James didn't kill five hookers at SMU?

"Yeah, no, I can categorically, definitively say that is absolutely untrue."

And this is the part where we all smile, nod our head and remember the first time our post didnt go through right away so we hit "save" muliple times thinking that would speed things up only to find out, to our horror, we'd created a series of muliple posts.
Been there myself Mr "mobile connection sucks" guy.

at people that think Miles would retire after 5 years. He'd coach into his 80's if he kept winning and they let him.
December 15th, 2014 at 1:09 PM ^
You're suggesting that if that scenario were actually true, that we shouldn't let Les Miles continue to keep coaching?
December 15th, 2014 at 1:14 PM ^
wheel his ass out to the field hooked up to a ventilator as long as he keeps winning.
December 15th, 2014 at 11:49 AM ^
Good for him. Houston is a school where you can have some success and get to a big time job. Give him 3-4 years and maybe he'll be back in the B1G, SEC or Big 12.

Will OSU ever not have an obvious successor dream coach?

It's also entirely possible that Herman will turn out to be an average head coach and never return to the Big Ten at all.
December 15th, 2014 at 11:51 AM ^
Yep. Miles looks like hes 50, enjoys what he does, and seems to be in great health. I could def see him coaching in to his 80's, God willing.

promoting Braxton Miller from within to become the O.C next season? That's the obvious move, right? I've always wondered how much of tOSU success is from Herman or Meyer, my guess is that tOSU doesn't regress at all. This is a program that is on it's 3rd starting QB and is curb stomping opposing teams. It pains me to speak well of their program, but it is what it is, to deny their success would be amatuer.
December 15th, 2014 at 11:57 AM ^
their recent success has more to do with the sorry state of practically every other B1G team.
Hire Les or JH and that shit stops immediately.

We'll know more about how good Ohio State is after they play Alabama.

OSU's defense is suspect, but they've got a seriously legit offense and Auburn just put like 30 or 40 on Alabama too. Wouldn't surprise me if OSU won
December 15th, 2014 at 11:59 AM ^
Good. Get him out of Columbus.
December 15th, 2014 at 12:02 PM ^
It's either Harbaugh, Miles, or 65-year old Joe GooglyMoogly.

"I know he wasn't really a candidate for the Michigan job"
Seems like he was at least in a group of 5-10 or so. Depending on how other candidates went I would have liked to see him in at least the top 5.
December 15th, 2014 at 12:06 PM ^
Houston is a good stepping stone for Herman. He'll be in a big time job in about 3-4 years.

Yes-I have been convinced; Tom Herman is not the perfect hire for Michigan. Too big, too fast. Meyer went to Bowling Green first. Urban probably told him that he will be 3-4 more years at Ohio State. As a result, he needs to go to Houston for a while for the head coach resume stuff before he's handpicked to return to Columbus to continue Meyer's legacy. Urban is waiting for Harbaugh to reignite the rivalry series. I think that's where were headed. If he wins more than he loses in those games, and the legend is in place, he calls Tom Herman from Texas to cement his own at Ohio State. This is how Urban thinks. When Herman was first hired as OC from Iowa State, the fans scratched their heads. Now, it's more clear. Herman has proven, especially in his Urban job interview, that he is a brainy football mind with all the other intangibles. Urban elevated his profile at Ohio State, and then Herman does the same for Houston--and then he has sufficient success and celebrity to be a great coach and celebrity magnet all on his own.
