Could Quinten Johnson be returning after all?
Title pretty much says it...I suppose you can withdraw from the draft if you haven't hired an agent?
However, Michigan football could be getting a key piece back in the secondary and that's Quinten Johnson. This might be confusing since he declared for the NFL draft, but Chris Balas of The Wolverine reports that a return is in the works.
It's unclear if Johnson would need a waiver or if a final decision has been made, but his return would be huge for the Michigan Wolverines secondary.

It would be beneficial to the players if there was an advisory board just like there is in the NBA where players could test the waters, receive a draft grade, and then make their final decision.

I always liked the baseball model, where you can actually get drafted and THEN decide, but I realize that would never work with football.
You certainly should be able to come back if you go undrafted.

Thanks for passing along the report. Even if speculative, it's a pleasure to consider.

Thanks... my goal was a reasonable title, sufficient info, and a link. MGoFolks are pretty particular about that stuff.
As for Mr Johnson, I'd be happy to have anyone return who may help the team in any way. Even if it's depth at an otherwise loaded position.

That would be great if true. Quentin probably doesnt have a lot of pro potential and we'd certainly benefit in having another veteran safety with Sabb walking

This would be great news. I don’t see why he would need a waiver.
2019 - RS
2020 - Covid
2021 - RS Freshman
2022 - RS Sophomore
2023 - RS Junior
2024 - RS Senior
Anyone know the current scholarship count? I understand there’s ways around the 85 cap, but I would guess we are under by a few and will be somewhat aggressive in the post-spring portal window.
The waiver would be about him returning after declaring for the draft, I think.
Scholarship count won’t matter as long as there’s enough NIL $.
Even if he wants to come back, I fully expect the NCAA to do what it can to fuck Michigan over and deny him the opportunity. Just because.
They already did with Lee Aliya. Might as well go for gusto.
He also has played on all of the special teams units. Getting his experience and leadership back would be a plus. Team player. National Champion!
Yeah, I remember people at the time saying Johnson may not have submitted the paperwork in time for the draft, or there was some uncertainty around it, so not a huge surprise he might be back especially if Sabb is gone.
Pickem up!
Sure looks like he's back:
Back at it! 〽️ 🏈
