Fantastic to hear. I doubt he comes back in time for next week or the CFP but what he has to be thinking about right now is the combine and making himself some money.
Go get yourself healthy to go make some money this spring, my friend. If you’re somehow ready to play in a month, that’s gravy. But get yourself healthy and go make some money. You’ve given your all and then some.

He was carted off in an air cast and went to the hospital if I heard correctly. At a minimum he broke something so yeah... no way in hell he plays again this year.

This is good news, but I’ll throw a little bit of a Debbie Downer in here. Orthopedic surgeons NEVER (or almost never) say their patients won’t fully recover. But I know from my own experience (and from speaking to others who have had football related knee surgeries) that once you’ve gone under the knife you’re never quite the same again. I would be curious to hear if anyone who has ever had major knee surgery thinks differently.

FWIW, people that had the stomach to look at the replay said it was an ankle, not a knee. If it's a clean break without much soft tissue damage, hopefully it'll be a relatively straightforward recovery.

Still want to punch the MSU sports med doc who did my knee chondroplasty for being vague as shit and avoiding an actual conversation with my 20-year old self. Never expected to end up with as much pain and instability as I have now.

This is welcome good news!

He should have a full recovery with the placement of a titanium rod and screws, assuming minimal soft tissue damage. Joints are probably ok.
