Michigan released staffer after online video alleged underage solicitation

Michigan football released a low-level staffer earlier this fall after a social media video claimed he was soliciting someone who he allegedly believed to be a minor, sources told The Michigan Insider.

Alex Yood, a low-level staffer within the program, was the subject of an Instagram video that claimed he was purchasing liquor ahead of what he thought was a meeting with an underage girl. The Michigan football program released Yood after the video was published, TMI was told.

In the words of Alex Drain: Not great!

I am glad they kicked him out and shouldn't we be happy that he got kicked out.

This was earlier this fall. Why this is relevant today? You should included "earlier this fall" in your title. -1.

When a university and program is as big as UM is, there is going to be shit happening every month. It is what it is. Not everything is relevant to be reported, unless university screwed up. Here the university did the right thing and you still claim it is not good.

In all seriousness, this quote from the linked article should have been part of the o.p.

publicized Thursday afternoon by former Ohio State coach Zach Smith

I can't quite get my head around this; I must be missing something.

Surely the story here isn't the story, it's the fact that Zach Smith of all people is calling around trying to get months-old salacious stuff about Michigan into the press? Clicks, I get it, but surely you get a few more if you include a little background about just why he's a "former Ohio State coach"?

Here was a chance to run a story on the media campaign, instead of participating in it. A much much more interesting story, one that if properly done might launch a writer's career. But no....

So I guess now the interesting story is, just why is The Michigan Insider running this dreck?

The fuggin' temerity of Zach Smith showing outrage over this.

Having said that, glad this Yood dood is gone. There's a special place in hell for guys like that. Crazy that one of the guys that runs the vigilante group that caught him was murdered shortly after this.
