OT: Best Jellies and Jams Thread
Good morning. I like jellies and jams. Do you? Let's talk together about our love for various jellies and jams. Here's my ranking:
- Strawberry jam
- Peach jam
- Raspberry jam
- Blackberry jam
- Grape jelly
What about the rest of you jelly and jam loving degenerates?
Also, I did this because Rob F dared me to...

THIMBLEBERRY JAM for the Yoopers (and anywhere there are cool nights, wet ground, and warm days. (Maine, Washington, Arizona, Montana, and anywhere north of Marquette and Ontonagon Michigan.)
Like raspberry but better. No offense to the other lists as they are excellent. And huckleberry shampoo is not to be used in bear country.

As a born-and-later-regrettably-transplanted yooper, I was always told thimbleberries wouldn't grow south of a certain latitude. But you mention Arizona, and once I was hiking near the coast outside San Francisco and came upon some ripe, ready to eat dandies.

thank you, moleskyn, for standing up to The Man. I AM SPARTACUS.
the correct answer, however, is grand rapids' own dunneback & girls farm tripleberry jam.
mods, please lock this thread. i just gave the answer.

I know the Dunnebacks.
I'm a distant relative of the Dunnebacks.
I've bought veggies and fruit there several times, but have never shopped their jam and jellies section. That may change today; I have an appointment for a tire rotation and oil change today and had also planned a stop at Brechting Farms (my mom was a Brechting and the farm owner Marty is my second cousin) fruit and veggies stand.
A short trip up the road to visit the Dunneback Girls will now be added to today's plans.

No negs from me; instead I'll just say that you are disgusting for having such a disgusting opinion.

Any jam will do, marmalade excluded, but the peanut butter better be crunchy, real, and spectacular.
September 14th, 2021 at 10:11 AM ^
Does marmalade count? If so:
1) Grape Jelly
2) Orange Marmalade

Bacon jam on a BLT. Blackberry jam on a buttered english muffin. Apricot preserves on buttered rye toast. Strawberry jam in a homemade strawberry milkshake gives a good flavor punch. Seedless raspberry preserves in an almond tart. I could go on......

Good start, keep going!

Anybody itching to make some raspberry jam after reading this thread, it couldn't be simpler:
Combine 500g raspberries, 350g sugar, and the juice of 1 smallish lemon. Bring to an aggressive bubble in a nonreactive pot on high heat. Stir more or less constantly while water evaporates and jam thickens. At 219F (at Ann Arbor's elevation), turn off heat, let cool, jar it up and stick in the fridge.
Works with any fruit but some may require addition of pectin to set.
My wife complains when I listen to the Space Jam soundtrack because she considers it a tacit endorsement of R. Kelly. I call bullshit!

Hey, Roman Polanski is a nasty little pedo-creep but...Chinatown, man. And Rosemary Baby. I can still love those films and hate him.

Add a little more pectin, turn out the mixture into a sugar-coated pan, let cool and you have delicious jelly candies called pate de fruit in French. Cut into squares and roll again in sugar.

- My wife's homemade strawberry freezer jam (goes on toast, PBJ, ice cream, mixed in yogurt)
- My homemade peach preserves (I make these exclusively for adding to my homemade yogurt that I take to work every day)
- Jalapeno cranberry jelly (awesome on ham, homemade chicken nuggets, crackers, mixed with cream cheese)
- Apple butter (I know, not a jelly or jam, but sooooo good on toast or English muffins when the butter is still melty)

KICK OUT THE JAMS M***** F*****S!!!
It's quite possible some of the wise ancients on the MGoBoard (or their parents) were actually at this 1970 outdoor Detroit concert.
