An underrated aspect of this hire would be that Nua will help in recruiting Hawaiian/Pacific kids. We struggle getting those kids to Michigan. Im sure he will be able to connect better with them than Mattison

Since when did Hawaii become a hot bed for elite college football players?

What’s the big deal about signing Polynesian/Pacific/Hawaiian kids? I’ve seen a lot of posters mention that about this guy. Are you implying that Michigan needs Polynesian guys to help us beat Ohio State? To Hawaiian kids , Michigan means nothing. They think it’s Canada or something. They’re not coming.

I hope that they name a high school in his honor that focuses on palindromes. (Shaun Nua H.S.)
Welcome to Michigan, coach -- Go Blue!

I don't think that will be problem since there aren't any scorpions to deal with.

My wife when she first visited the Law Quad said ... wholly shit, what do they feed those things to get as big as a house cat ? I guess law students don't work for peanuts so that extra chow goes to the squirrels ...

Interesting. Obviously, Harbaugh & Co. see something in him that they wanted in Ann Arbor. Maybe it was his ability to teach his DLinemen to do two things:
1) draw holding flag when being BLATANTLY HELD; and,
2) get their hands up and knock down passes when they cannot get home.

So then is Oakland still in play?

So with Jay Harbaugh (29), Chris Partridge (38), Gattis (35), the BC guy whose name I haven't learned to spell yet (Anthony Campanile 36), and now Nua (37), we got a bunch of young coaches who can relate to the recruits. Wonder if that was intentional.

Don't forget about Sherrone Moore, he's only 32 and hopefully about to have a big year in Oklahoma.

Good mix of old school and young blood. Not sure about you all, but I am excited to see how this comes together for 2019 and beyond. Go Blue !!!

Another thread hijacked by a bunch of crazies! I will again be the poster of reason. Welcome Coach Nua to you and your family! It is great to be a Michigan Wolverine!

And, Coach, you're in the right place if you want to learn how to make gravy.

Did his kid recently receive notice of admission to Business School and comparing it against his other admissions to Stanford and Notre Dame?

Does he wear a headset?

A DL coach from Navy can't be a bad thing when we play a tough Army team this year. He's also 37. Sign me up.

Wasn't there a post on this a couple of days ago? Good get regardless

Serious question - who is our Ohio recruiting specialist with Washington gone now? Seems like a hole on the staff, unless Ohio is not flavor of the month any longer.

I will tell everyone here what I know. I am very tied to the ASU Team and know pretty well what happens inside and out. Nua is and was a very well liked coach by the kids at ASU, stats this year were very underperforming based on a few things.
the defense switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4 and the had many many injuries to there D line and had some issues w personal. I actually went to 5 games this year and hung out for fall camp there and also attended the Vegas Bowl, Nua is a well like guy and Michigan kids w love his enthusiasm as I would assume he’s here to help w the recruiting and help out w the West Coast kids and Polynesian kids. ASU is killing it in California right now w recruiting, especially with Pierce and Nua leading the way w the younger group. He relates especially well w all kids.
ASU - I was actually shocked he accepted the job knowing what’s happening at ASU and watching the school recruit and all the new facilities there and what Herm is doing there. The coaches there have free reign to control there positions and do what they feel is right, no questions asked! Let’s jope this works out as I’m sure he received a huge raise to leave ASU.

Welcome, Coach Nua! Are we still looking for a DT this 2019 cycle? If so, I wonder if we'll be contacting still-uncommitted four-star DT Matthew Pola-Mao, someone Nua was apparently recruiting to ASU...

Does he hear football?
