OT: Alabama recruiter extraordinaire Tosh Lupoi leaving for NFL
Per Bruce Feldman: Tosh Lupoi, ace recruiter and defensive coordinator at Bama, is taking a DL coach job with the Browns. This is a serious blow to Bama’s recruiting efforts (yes, yes, bagmen and all that). Was the primary recruiter for a lot of familiar names here including Najee, Alex Leatherwood, Dylan Moses among many many others.

This is a scary thought. We gave Partridge a new title and promotion last year to keep him, I wonder what we would do this year? I'm sure Harbaugh will tell him that he will be the new DC once Brown retires/possibly leaves.

He did a year ago. How soon we forget

...gut punch!

Alabama's recruiting won't change, because Alabama's recruiting infrastructure pays the players, not Tosh.
Best of luck to him, but he will probably fail in a scene steeped in parity.

Bama can't keep a coach to save its life.

Awesome. I believe Tosh along with Cristobal were Sabans best bagmen....errr….I mean recruiters at Alabama. Now both are gone
Funny how one embarrassing loss and everybody leaves Saban. He's not worth the trouble to work with unless youre always winning

And just like that a guy with multiple crystal balls for Bama starts to get CBs to the other sec powerhouse...Tennessee

Tosh was the guy who got caught paying recruits by giving them money in coffee cups, right? lol
Alabamas recruiting will take a minor hit. It will be hard for Saban to find another guy as scummy as Tosh.

Are you talking about his time on the west coast, or something that happened in Alabama? At his previous job he was paying cash to “tutors” for all his players.

Second place on the season followed by years of number 1 recruiting classes, but by a much smaller margin?
this dynasty OVA!

Wait if this is the .1 version they should just go out and get Tosh.2.

I'm just wondering if there isn't something more going in in Alabama? They've had a weirdly high amount of staff turnover, and it doesn't seem to be for better jobs/titles. Some seems to be for equivalent.

For those calling this a lateral move—no it is not. The Browns are a NFL team. It is the top league for the sport, so stop it.
We got Gattis because JH sold him on being given total control—exactly what so many of you clamored on about for years.
Just as JH Michigan didn’t have a culture problem— stop conspiracy theories of Bama. Money and opportunity to do more—that is the simple explanation for most job moves.
Saban and Harbaugh are known button pushers, so anyone working for them is going to know and endure their quirks from moment hired.

I didn't know the NFL paid DL coaches 7 figure salaries. If they dont, then this isn't even a lateral move. Its a demotion.

Agreed. How can it be a promotion if you are taking a 50% salary cut??

Bama will bring in great coaches as they always have , they allready have signed the #one class in the nation, do not feel sorry for them

I hope our coach is focused on keeping our best defensive recruiters on staff after we just raided Bama. Partridge has been a target for awhile and a promotion is deserved. Lets build a wall around that guy.

I am going to assume this is Saban clearing the decks to try something new. The rate of attrition is always bad there but this seems like something else. Maybe a lot of firm hand shakes after the title game loss?

I feel for Alabama... They have such a high turn over of coaches it's ridiculous.

As long as Nick Saban is the head man at Alabama, they will be just fine. There are plenty of great coaches/coordinators/position coaches out there who will form a line two miles long outside Bryant-Denny Stadium just to see if they can find a way onto Saban's staff.
Recruits will still come to Alabama in droves as long as Saban is there. The place still recruits itself for the foreseeable future.

Sabans head is going to look like post death star.
