29-1 in last 30 games!!
Fellas have that soak in a while. 29-1 in last 30 games for the Hoops team. It’s unbelievable. Anyone not on this train, and upset about football still, better get aboard ASAP!! Super fun to watch and can beat you in a ton of ways. Nice to see our squad show up and play well in big games. Embrace the basketball. The next 3 months will be a fun ride.
Oh, if you live in AA area, get out and support this team. Every night at Crisler should be rocking!!

unacceptable!!
how did that '1' happen? failure on all levels. scrap the whole thing. JB is clueless about winning the big one. we need new blood.
(am i missing any?)

can't recruit top players. doesn't recognize talent.

January 6th, 2019 at 7:20 PM ^
His teams aren't tough and can't play defense.
January 6th, 2019 at 8:09 PM ^
Too many soft shooters, hanging out on the perimeter. No size etc.... sweet sixteen is this teams ceiling. Did I do this right?
January 6th, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
You forgot the ALL CAPS requirement??? This has been a good day.
January 6th, 2019 at 8:18 PM ^
The fans in Crisler don't intimidate the opponent, they sit on their hands ...blah , blah. Glen and I did our part ( even though he was working as a scout).
January 6th, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
scanner, if i didn't know better, i'd think you were showing off your 'guns'. nice PR pic.
January 6th, 2019 at 9:10 PM ^
To me it looks like he's just copying Glen
January 6th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
You forgot ugly, lazy and disrespectful. Shut up bitch. Go fix me a turkey pot pie. No dad, what about you? Fuck you. No dad, what about you? Fuck you. Dad, what about you? Fuck you.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
You missed "fire Beeline (sic)!" "He's lost the 2 biggest games his teams have played" And "neg me if you want, just because I won't settle for mediocrity"
Other than that, it was excellent Xtra. I can see you've been paying attention in BPONE class.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:47 PM ^
This site should be proud that it’s managed to get this far without getting this thread locked because people (either side of an argument) are whiny bitches.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:52 PM ^
If any whiny bitches show up today to go negative on this team - they are not true fans, nor do they understand good basketball.
29-1 over the last 30 - it really doesn't get much more fun than this as a college hoops fan.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:49 PM ^
Love Simpson and his intensity on defense even if he cant hit the outside shot. He is a pitbull
January 6th, 2019 at 6:50 PM ^
The announcers touched upon the player development at Michigan, but seriously, if you're a 3-4* player with NBA aspirations, you'd be insane to not come to Michigan with Beilein's record of coaching players up. Few coaches will do that for you.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:52 PM ^
Coach Beilein is a master, and we are so fortunate to enjoy watching his teams play.
Michigan basketball is a blast!
January 6th, 2019 at 6:51 PM ^
Great win - Johns played great off the bench, Poole, Matthews, and Simpson were fantastic. Encouraging that Iggy had a quiet game and still able to win by double digits. I'm excited to come up and see them against Maryland.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:52 PM ^
This is as good as it gets!
January 6th, 2019 at 6:53 PM ^
Impressive. Hate the Hoosiers. So what the hell was the reason that Johns kid wasn't playing? Oh yeah, there wasn't a descent one Coach B. We see him throw down a big jam down the stretch and blocked Morgan also at an important time. That young point guard should be in there more too. That guy can shoot and he can handle the ball. Even if it is just for a minute at a time.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:58 PM ^
Umm - Could it be that Johns is still developing and learning as a freshman, and wasn't ready to play until recently?
When Coach Beilein sits someone because they are not ready, and plays them when they are - hell, that is good enough for me.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:58 PM ^
do you know anything about the game of basketball, this team, or follow any of the content on them? DeJulius is way behind, if that's what you are referring to. I wouldn't plan to see much of him in big time minutes of a game. He can get there, but he has much to learn. Johns has shown flashes in practice, but has shown assertiveness and confidence issues which resulted him not getting minutes. He is finally starting to shed some of that.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:04 PM ^
In all honesty, I don’t think it would be a bad idea to throw him a bone or two. The kid has game. Loyer is a rotational player at State and DD pants him, brutally. I don’t know if giving him two minutes of run per half would kill us. He may see a pretty cloudy way to PT right now and he is not a player we want to start to look to exit.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
He’ll get PT in the game when he earns it in practice. To “throw him a bone” is to send the wrong message to the rest of the team. If he decides to transfer because things aren’t handed to him on a platter, that’s on him; but to reward selfishness would simply beget more selfishness.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:23 PM ^
Belch(and blow it at you). Roster management is important. JB has more talent and more possible contributors than he is used to dealing with now. I am not at practice, I don’t know any details. I just don’t think it would be a bad idea to take the kid out for a spin for a few minutes, that’s all.
Ok, you can resume your super serious “look me in the eyes” demeanor now.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:15 PM ^
2 minutes may not kill us, but it also may. This team still has its stretches of stagnancy, and we don't want to ruin flow- so it is a touchy decision when to play him. Don't get me wrong, I am high on him to come in and do exactly what our guards have done- learn for a year or two and then be pivotal for another year or two and really shine. He has been tentative in his limited minutes, and not looked good with his shot. Minutes may help that, but I think coach is pretty honest with guys about their usage and player expectations.
I would be very surprised if he decided to exit after not playing in his true freshman year, but that is always possible. He will get good minutes next season, and then can take the reins the year after.
January 6th, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
"2 minutes may not kill us"
that thinking goes against JB's theory that every possession matters. that's why everyone dives on the floor for every loose ball. they actually practice that shit.
playing a guy who doesn't deserve the minutes goes against that narrative.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:24 PM ^
You just can't not concern troll can you. Fucks sake you are one note over and over it never changes.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:27 PM ^
Love you too.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:13 PM ^
also he was only in because Livers still had back spasms. Johns did well but Livers is ahead of him in the 4-5 rotation. This game may have bumped Johns over Davis, who was just okay.
January 6th, 2019 at 9:27 PM ^
i think it depends on the size of the center. morgan was more quick than big, so i think it made sense to give johns some run. against the big wide bodies, johns probably won't see the floor against them.
January 6th, 2019 at 11:11 PM ^
fair point, but i think Johns' athleticism more than makes up for it against burly dudes. don't forget, we shut down Eric Paschall (6'9 / 260) with Iggy as the primary on-ball defender.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:15 PM ^
"So what the hell was the reason that Johns kid wasn't playing? Oh yeah, there wasn't a descent one Coach B."
1. After what he's done at Michigan, it's beyond idiotic that you're questioning Beilein's personnel decisions.
2. It's "decent," not "descent," you numbskull.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
You guys are overreacting to this. He is obviously just a casual basketball fan and basically said “why haven’t we seen this impressive big that much.” I can see it being a fair question for somebody who isn’t a diehard.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:40 PM ^
When your team is 15-0 and #2 in the country, and some asswipe is asking this:
What the hell was the reason that Johns kid wasn't playing? Oh yeah, there wasn't a descent one Coach B
...sorry, but that's worthy of ridicule.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:20 PM ^
User name does not check out.
OTOH, maybe if JB had played BJJ more we'd be undefeated.
Oh, wait...
January 6th, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
Why do people still like to criticize John Beilein after he’s proved himself year after year after year?? The guy knows what he’s doing. Johns is a young talent who needs to develop. He will get his minutes be patient. As for DeJulius I think he should split minutes with Brooks. Brooks hasn’t been very consistent and I would like to see how DeJulius handles the pressure. Regardless Beilein doesn’t need your opinion or my opinion on how to do his job. 15-0!!!! GO BLUE!!
January 6th, 2019 at 9:29 PM ^
disagree on brooks. i think he is gaining confidence, being more assertive and having a more positive impact out there. he passed up a couple open 3s today that i wish he would have taken. i like the direction he is going.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:55 PM ^
that 1 still stings. That win is worth a handful of losses.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:55 PM ^
Quit drinking and go party on South U!
January 6th, 2019 at 6:55 PM ^
Huh, so this is what happens when a great coach acknowledges his shortcomings, let's go of the reigns a bit, hires a great assistant coach to fix the weak spot, lets them do their job, and then continues to be open to innovation and new/better ideas, all while not panicking when a game gets tough? I wonder if any other UM coaches could benefit from such practices...
January 6th, 2019 at 6:58 PM ^
I mean...., really? College basketball and college football are different challenges. Beilein is fantastic but a compare and contrast of he and Harbaugh is foolhardy. One does not have to be about the other.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:17 PM ^
" let's go of the reigns a bit,"
It's "reins," goddammit.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
It’s also “lets” not “let’s” but since you’re on a roll (thought about going with role just to piss you off), I forgive you.
January 6th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
You're right, but I blame Gboard. It changes the words I'm intending to type all the time on me because it thinks it knows what I'm typing more than I do and I'm too lazy to go into the settings and turn that option off.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:56 PM ^
Team looks great. Need Livers back.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:58 PM ^
I love Johns play today, but lets pump the breaks a bit. See if he can have quality Minutes in back-to-back or multiple games. Maybe on the road. Livers, please get healthy. We still need you. Lastly, Z was great today. Maybe one of his best games as our point guard, which is saying something.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:06 PM ^
*brakes
January 6th, 2019 at 7:11 PM ^
Thank you. Lol.
January 6th, 2019 at 7:11 PM ^
Sorry by brakes are out. I'm fully on the Johns bandwagon! I hope he is a regular in the rotation now. I think he brings a lot more than Austin Davis that's for sure.
January 6th, 2019 at 6:59 PM ^
Alright, alright, alright!
