Maybe we don't know football, ND looks like Michigan with this play calling.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:34 PM ^
2021 #1 overall pick will be Trevor Lawrence
December 29th, 2018 at 5:39 PM ^
That route against a safety seems like it should be something we can force.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:39 PM ^
On paper, Notre Dame recruits at Clemson's level.
But damn, Clemson looks so much more athletic than Notre Dame where it matters.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:40 PM ^
ND is Michigan in gold helmets. The two programs are nearly identical with the sole difference being scheduling
December 29th, 2018 at 5:46 PM ^
Agreed.
Their offense looks stiff and stale like ours does. They do nothing to give their team an edge when it faces equal or superior talent.
It's just one more piece of evidence that you need a dynamic offense to compete at the elite level in the modern era.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:44 PM ^
Clemson's ability to throw downfield is the difference.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:47 PM ^
But they can throw downfield because they spread the field and make you defend all of it. You can't just tee off on them every play.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:48 PM ^
Clemson will have run more plays in 30 seconds than Michigan did with 2 minutes and 3 time outs. Bahahahaha someone put me out of my misery.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:49 PM ^
shouldn’t the roughing call on nd stop the clock? why did clemson need to use a to?
December 29th, 2018 at 5:50 PM ^
Notre Dame is about to take all of the negative attention off of Michigan for a miserable showing in a bowl game today.
And people are actually watching their game.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:51 PM ^
Difference between a good coaching staff and ours. Dabo up 2 scores with under a minute and bad field position still takes a timeout and aggressively drives down the field.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:51 PM ^
Just think if that was M with the ball to end the half. The half would have ended with a run play and then the clock would have run 45 seconds because Jim was getting the ball to start 2nd half.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:51 PM ^
Clemson is just amazing.
I cannot believe Lawrence is a frosh
December 29th, 2018 at 5:51 PM ^
Nico Collins can make that catch. We have the pieces to be like Clemson on offense. Someone tell Jim.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:53 PM ^
But . . . but . . . you need a 5th year Senior QB to be successful in college football.
December 29th, 2018 at 7:02 PM ^
It would be nice if we could recruit a qb like Lawrence. We dont have a top 100 qb in three straight classes.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:51 PM ^
And Clemson and Bama again most likely, how exciting
December 29th, 2018 at 5:55 PM ^
Clemson will have earned it's spot, boring or not.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:51 PM ^
clemson can run like 6 plays in the time it takes us to run 2. depressing
December 29th, 2018 at 5:52 PM ^
Ugh what a stupid no huddle offense by Clemson. That would never work in the big ten!
December 29th, 2018 at 5:52 PM ^
I love Dabo, wish I had a reason to be a Clemson fan.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:06 PM ^
Been to three Clemson games. Campus is beautiful, they have a fantastic atmosphere and the fans are some of the nicest I have ever experienced. The town is quite small, but Greenville isn't far away at all and it would remind you of AA. A very good (not great but quite good) University as well. It isn't for some crazy reason that Clemson has found its spot.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:52 PM ^
And the blowout is on. Clemson>>Notre Dame.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:07 PM ^
For those who don't know / remember, Dabo wasn't even a coordinator before he was hired as Clemson's football Coach. And before he was coaching at Clemson he was selling insurance.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:15 PM ^
Dabo grew into the job and to Clemson's credit they gave him the time to do that. He made mistakes and learned from them. Built up the entire program and adjusted when things weren't working. Paid huge money for Venables. Picked up Chad Morris. Targeted his recruiting.
In 2011 he won Clemson's first ACC title in 20 or so years and proceeded to get pasted 70-33 in the Orange Bowl. Lost in 2013 to Jameis Winston's FSU squad in a big way. He just kept improving the program bit by bit and he now has the 2nd best program in the country, bar none.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:52 PM ^
Dabo doesn't seem to have an ego when hiring coordinators. He seems quite secure in having an OC and a DC that are better coaches than he could be.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:53 PM ^
So Clemson has two co-oc's. Any chance we could have one of them?
December 29th, 2018 at 5:53 PM ^
Welp, that will probably do it for ND.
Probably be another Bama-Clemson NC final.
December 29th, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
Great teams. Boring for college football.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:54 PM ^
I'll leave judgment to those who see this differently... how was that a Clemson TD if we didn't get the TD with Black
December 29th, 2018 at 5:57 PM ^
Cause he controlled the ball to the ground. Sucks for Tarik but his was not a catch.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:01 PM ^
Exactly this. The ball obviously popped out on the reply. Especially with the slow motion replay the Clemson play was a very obvious TD. Even if they didn't count the first foot down, he got his ankle down before he hit out of bounds and controlled the ball the whole time.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:01 PM ^
Clemson looked like he had control, in the air, never saw the steps that people here said you have to have. i'll trust you just not seeing it
December 29th, 2018 at 5:55 PM ^
Same teams in playoff every year with same results. It’s really kind of boring. Any ideas how we generate some parity in this sport?
December 29th, 2018 at 6:03 PM ^
I don't know about that. I'd say that Clemson has crashed the party.
They are not in the SEC. They have not been a top 5 recruiting team. They were traditionally being out-classed by FSU.
They did it by coaching and scheme. And now the recruiting is catching up.
They are showing the way to teams on the fringe (like Michigan, hint, hint) how it's done.
December 29th, 2018 at 7:38 PM ^
Not saying I would be in favor of it, but to generate parity, they could reduce the recruiting window (or even number of scholarships) based on final poll position.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:56 PM ^
Elite QB makes the the players around him better. I wonder what that is like to have.?.?.
I think Shea is a good QB, just not s great QB. Team’s with great QB’s or good QB’s who rise up in big games, give their teams the best chance to win
December 29th, 2018 at 5:58 PM ^
Clemson is showing us how to do it folks.
So what is it they can do that we can't do?
They are NOT out-recruiting us.
They ARE out-coaching us. That is clearly evident.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:19 PM ^
Good take.
I found myself thinking similarly. Are their WRs that much better than ours? Clemson seems to give their WRs the chance to make plays; why do we rarely seem to do the same? Why not give DPJ more chances to make plays?
Rhetorical questions, really. Suppose I'm just bitching because I'm pissed like you guys.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:59 PM ^
Textbook end of half possession by Clemson. It’s not that hard, just takes basic competence.
All the village idiots that don’t think Dabo Swinney can coach should go pound sand
December 29th, 2018 at 6:01 PM ^
College Football is boring.
Alabama is going to destroy Oklahoma. I’m sure Bama Clemson will be a great game but who cares at this point. We’ve seen this before.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:06 PM ^
If you earn it, you earn it.
Clemson is earning it.
Oklahoma will have a chance.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:08 PM ^
Since I’m in a bitching mood. It really grinds my gears when people on tv refer to the Orange Bowl in “South Beach”. It’s 45 minutes from there.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:22 PM ^
Yeah, that's some propaganda there.
There is as much of the Big House in South Beach as there is the Orange Bowl.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:10 PM ^
So far away. :(
December 29th, 2018 at 6:15 PM ^
I know I said it in jest somewhat but I was completely serious when I said Harbaugh should look at one of Clemson's OC's. I think Clemson's offense is honestly the perfect meld of innovate big play ability with a good-great running game to compliment
December 29th, 2018 at 6:23 PM ^
Thank You.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:21 PM ^
Georgia and OSU are better than Notre Dame. Good thing we have a committee of "experts" to pick the teams
December 29th, 2018 at 6:25 PM ^
At the end of the day, the CFP committee is just counting up losses, just like the poll voters before them did.
There is little real difference.
Just go to an 8 team playoff already.
