Matthews looks like a 5 star today
December 15th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
We look like shite the last two games.. team must be reading their press clippings!
December 15th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
This will be a scary finish. WMU will foul constantly I'm guessing
December 15th, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
Scary only if you dont cheer for Michigan.

What happened to the ruthless Assassins from the first month of the season?
They all look so disinterested and bored the last 10 days-2 weeks
They don’t look like they are having fun and this doesn’t bode well for the conference season.
The offense has been incredibly flat and no one seems to be moving off ball and shots aren’t falling, and defense has been sloppy.
Let’s hope for the standard issue mid January Beilein bump this year again.

matthews/simpson 3s have saved the day. what???
December 15th, 2018 at 4:01 PM ^
Minute left... Stay with it. Keep focused.
Anything can (still) happen.
Go. Blue.
Finish.

If western doesn’t immediately foul z their coach should be fired and honestly z probably shouldn’t even be in the game
December 15th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
I think I would have fouled Matthews, despite his second-half success, instead of waiting to foul Poole.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
Three straight not great looking games...
December 15th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
And three straight wins!
December 15th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
Good job, Jordan!
December 15th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
Poole handling the ball late in the game is a luxury. Great coaching, and wonderful execution

I can't believe how often Flowers has pushed off without getting called, and he keeps drawing ticky-tack fouls when he drives.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
Winning an ugly game where we missed the majority of our open shots is not a bad thing at all. Also, Matthews made free throws consistently and Z made his open threes. Those are positive developments, and we are now 11-0. I’ll take it all day. Go blue!
December 15th, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
I say if they are going to call a foul on Flowers drive anyway, even with no contact, then hack the hell out of him and make him pay for driving the lane.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
Yeah, no kidding. I don't understand the way that game was officiated at all. In the first half, Western Michigan was getting a tight whistle while Michigan wasn't, and in the second half, it basically flipped.
Mostly I'd like to understand how X took that horrible offensive foul but WMU could lower their shoulders into guys the entire game. Flowers was doing that on almost every drive, and Davis (I think) pushed off to create every bit of space he had.

Not impressive. A lot to work on.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:13 PM ^
not really, imo. just seemed to miss a lot at the rim. i don't think there were a lot of bad plays out there, just missing good looks.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:05 PM ^
Whoa, Simpson!
Now *that* was the dagger.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:05 PM ^
Stay with it.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
Glad that's over.
We shall never speak of this again.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
Well a win is a win, we'll learn something from it and it will only make us stronger, Go Blue!
December 15th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
A tough game, good win. Go Blue!
December 15th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
A win is a win. 11-0, baby.
A lot of stuff for JB and the coaching staff to look at, and fix. And I trust they will.
GO BLUE!

after a terrible shooting first half on FTs and 3s, both % ended up being near the norm. however, they must have missed more than a dozen shots at the rim, many contested, but still. that is flukish. UM is usually pretty damn good at the rim.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
Michigan just won a game shooting 17/36 from 2, when they couldn't buy a call inside the paint for the last ten minutes of the game. (Meanwhile, WMU made 56% (!) from 2, thanks in large part to garbage shots falling).
I'm not sure a dozen of those misses were at the rim, but it sure seemed that way. And, I agree, it's not particularly likely to repeat itself.
Michigan won this game largely by getting up 8 more shot attempts and taking 5 more free throws. It's good to have an offense built around avoiding turnovers. :)

Usually when teams have an off day, they lose. I like that this team can have an off day and still win.
December 15th, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
Team just plays to the level of its opponent. The "on/off" switch thatt veteran NBA teams claim to have. They flipped it halfway through this game. I don't doubt this 1st quarter was harder to get up for than Villanova.

It's fine. Nobody goes undefeated in today's game, and I'd rather our slump come against teams like this than teams that would take serious advantage of it and clobber us. We've destroyed teams this year that would have beaten us today. It's just how college hoops is.
