Is #43 to #39 considered a huge bump? He is now #39.
December 4th, 2018 at 6:05 PM ^
That's nearly a 10% increase (decrease?)
December 4th, 2018 at 6:48 PM ^
Not composite. Rivals. In his hello post, he was not in top 250--#20 RB and #31 in CA
December 4th, 2018 at 7:23 PM ^
He was like 103 or something prior (in the composite)
so somewhere in the 100s to 39 us a huge bump.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:41 PM ^
Running back is a question mark next year. We have some solid backs but no one has proven to be a real game changing player in the backfield. Tons of guys do it as true freshmen. That would be awesome to see him go off for 1,200 yards next year.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:43 PM ^
Definitely think he will best Evans' true freshman year production...maybe around 800 yards and 4 or 5 TDs. A platoon of Charbonnet-Evans-Wilson is a fine backfield.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:49 PM ^
Let's not forget all the Christian Turner hype from August.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:06 PM ^
Yep. RB room is going to be crowded. Hopefully, if Turner doesn't really crack the rotation next year, he has the patience to stick out Evans' final year so that more carries open for him.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:05 PM ^
Where in the heck is O'Maury Samuels? Is he going to transfer too?
December 4th, 2018 at 9:54 PM ^
Samuels may well be "Higdon"...he sure is chiseled like him. Folks don't know. A year from now he's as likely to be "the man" as anyone of the RBs. Everything is simply talk at this time. The RB room is going to be good enough.
Charbonnet is a five star...sorry about that you hand-wringers...just watch his film.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:50 PM ^
Yes - a three headed running monster!
December 4th, 2018 at 4:48 PM ^
Is he signing early and an early enrollee?
December 4th, 2018 at 4:56 PM ^
yes & yes
December 4th, 2018 at 5:01 PM ^
Excellent. Probably my favorite recruit this cycle.
December 4th, 2018 at 6:29 PM ^
I joined simply to post that immediately after the Ohio State loss I met him at the gym I go to. We spoke for a couple minutes about the game and his excitement about heading up there. He did confirm he was early enrolling. Skinnier than I expected.
December 4th, 2018 at 6:40 PM ^
Well he's about 220, so that just means he's pretty lean right now. Herb will get him up to 230 without losing speed.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:11 PM ^
230? That's insane! He's going to Terry Tate linebackers...
December 4th, 2018 at 7:49 PM ^
He will probably play around 225-230 I'd guess. He's all of 6'1 maybe 6'2 so he can carry that.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:02 PM ^
I would say he looked every bit of 6’2 with room to pack on plenty of weight. Kid is gonna be a force.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:06 PM ^
If Shea comes back, our returning WRs, returning 4 OL and addition by subtraction with Mayfield taking JBB's spot, and then adding Charbonnet with Evans.... Man that's a highly erotic thought
December 4th, 2018 at 4:49 PM ^
True Fr. starting RB, like our man Mike Hart?
December 4th, 2018 at 4:49 PM ^
Why has Chris Hinton taken such a drop at every recruiting site? He was a top 30 prospect across the board but now down in the 50-70 range. Thoughts on why the drop?
December 4th, 2018 at 4:53 PM ^
I think they do a pretty good job at a brief description why.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:57 PM ^
I’m not sure who “they” is and I’ve looked at his Rivals profile and I didn’t see any explanation why.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:06 PM ^
From what I understand he hasn't hit the camp circuit at all. Typically players get bumped up from camp performances, especially if the camp is being hosted by one of the recruiting services. If you're at a Rivals camp you're probably going to get a bump on your Rivals ranking.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:05 PM ^
This is what give credence to the “stars don’t matter” folks.
This situation plays out every year. Guys who go to the most camps get the most stars. Guys who don’t get ignored.
Met a guy a couple years ago who helps his brother in law coach a HS team in Minnesota. He told me that you could build a competent D1 O line out of completely unrated guys in Wisconsin alone. He mentioned one kid who was 100% as D1 ready as any lineman he’s ever seen and didn’t even go to college because his family owns a big dairy farm and he just wanted to get to work.
Similarly, if your even from the state of Florida you get what? 2 stars just for that.
I loved the story about the Boise st. Coach that just traveled all over the fly over country recruiting QBs. Knowing that in a school of 3-400 kids he’s the best athlete and although he may be the #456 rated QB in the nation(no camps) he’s likely to be a decent LB or S or TE. Genius.
December 5th, 2018 at 9:18 AM ^
Chris got his early ratings based upon the fact that he is a very good player...and his last name is "Hinton". Chris' film still says he is very good...it does not declare that he is great-he may or may not be. His "little" brother, on the other hand...OH MY!!!
December 4th, 2018 at 4:53 PM ^
He’s going to be a dude.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:56 PM ^
He was born a dude. You need an operation to change that, although chromosome don't lie.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
You're gonna eat negs for this, but I LOLed.
December 4th, 2018 at 6:36 PM ^
S/he can still use any bathroom s/he wants.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:59 PM ^
Here's a link to me saying that Charbonnet was underrated when he was a low 4-star, before he committed, and Kurpit's miserable ass chiming in.
Show yourself, Kurpit, you coward.

I'm a huge fan of these sort of posts.

DrMantis keeps receipts!
December 4th, 2018 at 5:10 PM ^
That’s awesome.
Do you see a guy like Mazi Smith getting a lot of run a true frosh with some of the D-Line struggles later in the season?
Aside from Charbonnet, which current commit are you most excited for and who do you see contributing most next season?
December 4th, 2018 at 5:25 PM ^
I could see Mazi getting some time next year, as well as Hinton, but I think Solomon getting healthy will be a major part of improving the DT play. He basically missed the whole year between his knee and his sickness. Also have to think that one or two players step up between Dwumfour, Jeter, and Kemp.
A big thing with true freshmen DTs is their strength to hold up against more developed FBS OL, so the fact that Mazi is an EE will help him a ton.
I think Dax Hill is going to start in Kinnel's spot next year. He's just so talented that we won't be able to keep off the field, even though he's not an EE.
I don't know Nolan Rumler's status as an EE, but he's going to be a dog. I like all of our OL commits really, though the OL should be strong next year and not much room for a freshman to break through.
I could see Giles Jackson getting some touches next year with how much speed and twitch he brings. With Ambry needing to be an every down corner next year, Giles could take Ambry's offensive snaps (and maybe then some).
Hard to say, I really like our class. Like a lot of guys. I think David Ojabo has the potential to be a monster. I think Zach Harrison is probably a two-deep guy if we can close on him, especially since he'd be an EE. Without knowing whether we have Harrison or not I'd say my top 3 for immediate impact are Charbonnet, Hill, and Jackson, but I really like a lot of these guys, I think it's a stellar class.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:41 PM ^
I love it. This is what I was looking for.
Thanks Doc.
December 4th, 2018 at 7:40 PM ^
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes but did Aubrey play in more than 4 games?
December 4th, 2018 at 7:51 PM ^
Yes he did. I believe he played in 5, and we will need him in the bowl too.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:28 PM ^
Mazi is a guy flying under the radar a bit who I think will be excellent. I'd bet a dollar he ends up on the Solomon freshman track and gets in the rotation next year before blowing up from there (I also expect to see that blowup from Aubrey when he gets healthy).
Real strong dude with plus quickness + EE who talked about how essential a strength program was to his college decision + Herbert + Mattison DL with some 4th year guys to lean on. I like those tea leaves.
December 5th, 2018 at 9:13 AM ^
Damn!!! You must be a genius...because this is totally my take!!! :)
I am surprised that you did not specifically name Trente Jones here...I think this kid is going to be VERY good!
December 4th, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
Deleted for being a douche.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:27 PM ^
What was deleted?
December 4th, 2018 at 5:32 PM ^
I self deleted an unnecessary comment.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
Oh gotcha nvm
December 4th, 2018 at 5:57 PM ^
What did you say, so we can know if we should neg you?
December 4th, 2018 at 6:01 PM ^
It was probably neg worthy.
December 4th, 2018 at 6:05 PM ^
Ok well take one then. Now you are good.
December 4th, 2018 at 6:07 PM ^
Dangit, now I'm further away from my prize.
