Sourcing tickets for Mich/Ohio State

Why would the masses ask "why?" It's a wonderful trip. Thousands of Michigan fans go. For the past 8 trips they have come home disappointed, but it's still an exhilarating experience. There's real hope that the result will be different this year. You are, I think, falsely presuming a reaction that won't occur.
But, FWIW, if you think "reasonable" is mid-200s there are seats available on stubhub. If you think "reasonable" is half that or less you will probably wind up watching The Game on television.

It is a trip every Michigan fan must make once. I expect Brian's post on his Columbus experience will come up sometime early this week.

Honestly, there's a reason why when Bill Martin was getting ready to do the renovations on Michigan Stadium, he went and took a good look at the 'Shoe. It's everything you want in a college football experience, mouthbreathing fans aside. I've done it twice. Saw two losses. Don't feel like doing it again. But I'm immensely glad I got to go. You'll never really get the OSU rivalry until you see exactly what it's like. And to think it's infinitely tamer now than it used to be...

This Saturday will be about my 12th game at Ohio Stadium. I’ve never once had an ugly or threatening experience there. Not even close, so far as I know.
I disagree with Bando about the trend, however. I see fan behavior getting worse, not better. And that is everywhere. Not at all limited to Ohio State.
OSU game days are tremendous things. Fans who are devoted like no other. A pre-game orchestration that is unsurpassed. All of Mid-Ohio lives for that day.
Ohio Stadium is massively impressive. We have nothing quite like their Rotunda. But of course Michigan Stadium is THE FINEST stadium in the country. Which you quickly realize when you are in a back row of B Deck or frozen C Deck. Or in an obstructed view seat. Of which there are none in Ann Arbor, but a depressingly considerable number by the banks of the Olentangy.
You haven’t fully experienced Big Ten football if you haven’t been to The Game in Columbus.

I’m hoping to get tickets around $200 each. But knowing stub hub is going to tack on another $50 in fees. So... $250 max with fees would be nice.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:54 PM ^
You're not guaranteed to get that. OSU's win keeps OSU in the running for more stuff, so the bottom won't fall out of the market. Check the different sites and see what there is. Figure out when you have to decide; if you have a hard budget than you should approach this week with the conviction that if you don't get tickets for the price you want, you will be ok watching at home.
If you won't be ok watching at home and can get in for $25-$40 over your hoped for price and it won't put you into to debt... then get the tickets and start planning.

Seth hasn't done a ticket watch column that has featured OSU this fall. Here's his entry from two years ago, a reasonably similar situation.
Tickets are cheaper now than two years ago when Seth wrote the article.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a couple sources I’m looking at. I’ll probably say fuck it and break out the Amex by Wednesday. We’ll see.

Gotta think with OSU looking iffy and Urban looking like a catcher's mitt with one foot in the grave, it's going to knock down prices a touch. Tuesday-Thursday might be the sweet spot before stock goes down and people start getting desperate.
November 18th, 2018 at 8:18 AM ^
Lol, $250, you won't find any for that. A deck is going forv$1800 a piece, had OSU lost yesterday maybe you'd find tickets for that

That’s pretty retry close face isn’t it? Good luck

Speaking of retry. Come again?

I listed a pair on the Alumni Ticket Exchange board for face value and they sold in minutes. Face from the Alumni Association was $197 each.

Where does OSU put the visiting team fans?
November 18th, 2018 at 1:04 AM ^
Don't you mean which part of the toilet bowl does OSU put visiting fans?
November 18th, 2018 at 1:39 AM ^
Northeast corner (closed end, visitors side) a few rows near the bottom, also where they put the band. Also about a section and a half in the upper deck same corner.
Like in Ann Arbor with Ohio State fans you'll find Michigan fans in every part of the stadium except the student section only not as many.
November 18th, 2018 at 7:25 AM ^
Your statement is incorrect. I will be in the student section - so there will be at least one UM fan there.
I bought OSU big ten season tickets and gave away/sold at cost every game up till now.
Please win.

You are a brave soul. Hope you’re at least sitting with some buddies who’ve got your back.

I've enjoyed all of my trips to Columbus, the good and the bad. Great venue and it really shines when Michigan is in town, nothing like it anywhere.
November 18th, 2018 at 2:00 AM ^
This would definitely be the year to go. 42-24.
November 18th, 2018 at 6:37 AM ^
I paid $325 in 2016 to sit in the nosebleeds. It was still a great experience. Fans where I was weren’t terrible. One guy in a Budweiser jacket would flip us off every time OSU got a firstborn down.
But it’s definitely a trip everyone should make at least once.
November 18th, 2018 at 10:40 AM ^
So that's why they keep winning. Sending firstborns down to Satan?

Tomorrow is the last day to sell hard tickets on Stubhub so there is time to mail them out. I sold 4 last week. Starting Tuesday, the supply is going to drop which means higher prices for the download able tickets. Something to keep in mind.
November 18th, 2018 at 7:28 AM ^
We should coordinate an mgoblog tailgate or at least meetup at the Ackerman lot off 315. Best parking for the price, and heavily policed. They will stop / prevent vandalism.
Only you can prevent assault. Dont retaliate ...
November 18th, 2018 at 7:37 AM ^
YOU SHOULD GO!!!
Just get verified tix on StubHub. Do t scalp day of. Lots of fake tix.
Its intense, but I’m glad I’ve gone to the 4 games I attended and will go to more when I can. People talk smack, but it’s our duty as fans to deal with that to support our team in its biggest game of the year.
Go Blue!

Forgive me for posting here, but I cannot start a new thread yet (need a few points). How does one go about determining the officiating crew for The Game? After the debacle two years ago, it might be nice to know ahead of time who we're up against (besides Ohio).
November 18th, 2018 at 8:55 AM ^
It doesn't matter, B1G officiating is a shit show across the board. Whatever happens on the field has to be dealt with. Crying about it after the fact is for losers, and that goes nowhere. Witness 2016...
We won't be in that situation again. This team will get the insurmountable lead where 2016 wasn't able to.
November 18th, 2018 at 8:08 AM ^
I am also looking for two tickets to the game. I heard from a student that ticket prices may drop the day of the game. I may take my chances... GO BLUE!
November 18th, 2018 at 10:17 AM ^
I have attended the game 4 times in Columbus: 1980, 1986, 1988, and 1990. (4-0, say maybe folks should be sponsoring me to go this year, JK). I went as a client in 1980. It was killing my host who was a Buckeye but he was nonetheless polite. For the next 3 I looked for a ticket throughout the season and would grab 1 (I went solo each time) at a reasonable price, defining reasonable as 2 times face. Singles are cheaper per ticket than pairs.
Stub-Hub didn't exist then so the market was imperfect. You can hope for horrendous weather which would somewhat depress last minute prices, otherwise I would monitor prices every couple of hours and buy what you can afford sooner rather than later.
November 18th, 2018 at 10:23 AM ^
I know if a pair available for $1,000.00
too rich for me and I would have to be convinced to take them since it’s in cbus anyway...
