Report on 97.1: Gary Expected to Play Tomorrow

Dennis Fithian is saying on 97.1 that he hears from his sources that Rashan Gary is expected to play tomorrow, likely in limited minutes. He's not the kind of guy who rushes to the air with information unless his sources are good, so I'd put confidence in this as pretty high.

He kept referring to it as a "Willis Reed situation," without explaining what that meant. I'm assuming he's referring to Reed playing in the 1970 NBA Finals with a thigh injury, when he wasn't expected to play.

Fithian also said his sources say Tarik Black won't play tomorrow, but probably will against Penn State. Take it all for what it's worth.

Denis Fithian believed a cab driver that called his show and said he picked Khalil Mack up from the airport and took him to Lions camp for a meeting 3 days before the Bears made the trade for him, so yeah, I'll believe it when i see it.

Playing even limited minutes makes a huge difference.

Hopefully we can get out of EL with a W tomorrow, give Gary two full weeks to rest up, and with any luck he’ll be full go for Penn State.

Reading between the lines on the insider info:

Gary practiced all week. Today his handlers told him to sit out anyway, and thus he's sitting out. I would guess an insider post on 247 coincided with him not making the trip.

As much as I'd love to see Rashan and Tarik out there tomorrow, rest them both up and use the bye to get more healed up then come out with a vengeance against PSU.
