MSU being MSU: hiring Bill Beekman as permanent AD.
Well there goes the national search for a new AD. It didn’t last long. Four or five weeks at the most. So nothing changes. Engler appoints Beekman, who likely knew what was going on just like Hollis. So the ineptnous continues. MSU just is so afraid of change or letting someone from the outside into their ranks. So I am going to assume nothing is going to change at MSU.
Not bringing an outsider screams they are covering something up.
Devil's Advocate argument --- an outsider, say an Athletic Director at a mid-major or a Senior Associate AD at a high-major, is going to see some yellow flags in taking this job.
The most notable yellow flag --- MSU will have a new President in a couple years. A lot of prospective hires will have some trepidation in taking a job when they will have a new boss very very soon.
Beekman is a stop-gap and I imagine they'll have another AD come 2020-2021.
Argument and user name check out!
Being employed by the MSU athletic department in any capacity sort of screams cover up at this point.
Fuck Msu!
Link?
I thought your request for a link was in response to "Fuck MSU". Funnier that way.
Nevermind.Freep has it.
If I were hired as the next president of The Michigan State University one of the very first things I would do would be to fire Beekman.
(I'm probably not going to be hired as the prez of MSU).
Depends, doesn't it. How willing are you, on a scale of 1 to 10, to enable and cover up sexual assault by your subordinates and employees?
[Hint: any answer less than 10 means you won't be considered]
S.G. Rice,
Sorry you are overqualified for the position.
I am so shocked, only other logical "National Search" choice would be george perles....
Makes perfect sense. Engler was brought in specifically to protect Mork and Izzo. An outside hire may actually want to fix clean up the athletic department. Business as usual at MSU. I am sure the NCAA will also do jack shit. What a joke.
Sparty gonna sparty
Sorry...hate to be that guy but... It's ineptitude. Or ineptness.
Ineptnous is the French version meaning "we are inept".
mais bien sur. quelle farceur!
Was sprecken sie? Ich weiss nicht.
I feel so dumb. I have no idea what these guys are talking about. Wait. Does that make me a good candidate for AD job at MSU?
Merci beaucoup!
Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
Given the decision maker involved, this is a toss up.
Time to beat their ass more than ever
inbreeding continues coverup.
Lets take the high road here.
Their star football player has been arrested 7 times for similar violations, with no discipline by the coach or AD.
Basset hounds for EVERYBODY!!!
Par for the course!
(From the ESPN Article) Engler cited Beekman's "calming presence" and his ability to handle legal and business matters as reasons for offering him the job.
"I think we could have looked across the country and been hard-pressed to find somebody that knows Michigan State the way Bill does with the qualities he has," Engler said. "We ended up not needing to do a national search."
So I assume his ability to "handle legal and business matters" means his ability to duck, dodge, and cover shit up, and I assume that knowing Michigan State means knowing to protect Mork and Izzo above all else. Real bang up job. Also I liked Engler's comment that Beekman counts as an outsider because "his last 23 years at the university hasn't included any previous work in athletics". Spartan logic: guy who's worked at MSU since 1995 = outsider.
I’ve just got to believe this will all catch up to them eventually. If it smells like shit, prolly gonna be shit.
