OT: Colin Cowherd
Listening to Colin on my lunch break. I know this might not be popular, but I love listening to this guy. He is too much of a Lebron and NBA guy, but his advice and takes on life might be just as much, if not more interesting than his takes on sports. Him and Baker Mayfield got into it on twitter yesterday, which was funny. Do you think Colin is good? Why or why not? Who do you like better and why? I know we as a fan base have had our problems with him, but I think ESPN really messed up by letting him get away. He is a straight shooter and not afraid to go against the grain.
I used to like watching the original incarnation of SportsNation with him and Michelle Beadle.
2 points:
1. Colin's gotten better vs. 10 years ago, IMO. But I'd still rank him below Dan Patrick in terms of my preferred daytime sports radio show.
2. Yes, ESPN made a mistake in letting him go. He knows how to draw listeners.
whenever i'm tempted to criticize someone behind a camera or microphone, i try to remember 2 things:
1. it's not for nothing that they've risen to the top of their profession. maybe some people criticize cowherd but they'd turn the radio off immediately if he was replaced by almost any of the less accomplished personalities at lower tiers. in other words, he's a talented broadcaster/personality regardless if you like his takes. your alternative might be the "boom goes the dynamite" guy.
2. their paycheck earning job is to talk non-stop for hundreds or thousands of hours a year. and in this day and age, every second of that is recorded and can go viral in an instant. so of course in that environment they are going to say a bunch of dumb things, wrong things, controversial things, etc. and they're all on tape. not to mention someone of cowherd's stature who is a national personality and expected to know every detail, every player and coach and their performance, about every sport. They are required to have an opinion about everything, unlike your local talkers who can mainly cover the local teams and be fine.
media personalities know it's a losing battle, especially in sports where taking a side on something pisses off the other 99% of fans in that sport who aren't fans of that person/team/take. so ask any fanbase anywhere and a lot of them will remember something negative cowherd said about their team and say he sucks.
i'm not really a big sports chatter consumer but i've never had a huge problem with cowherd. i get a little weary of his big pregnant pauses. he could talk a bit faster. but no big issues.
Can't stand him. He is what is wrong with Sports Talk Radio. It should be about Sports not about him.
i love Colin Cowherd but sometimes he can be too much
OT: Beaver Pelt Hats
I like them. I think they are stylish and warm in the winter. What are the thoughts of random, anonymous, message board people on them? Why do or don’t you like beaver pelt hats?
I think they're great. Somebody had to do something with all those trimmings.
Is there a difference between Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless?
Yes. Colon is respected by a lot of professionals. Most professionals think Skip is a pathetic joke.
No, only mouth breathing fools like you respect blowhards like Cowherd.
Ok...so how do you explain the high quality professionals that call him their friend?
Is it bad that I clicked on this hoping to read that Cowherd had retired, been fired or otherwise taken off the air?
He's one of the worst in an industry full of terribles.

Clickbait title.
I don’t find Cowberd that entertaining or useful.
However, he, or any sports talk host is nowhere near as bad as Max Kellerman. Max Kellerman is the sports talk equivalent to an internal hemorrhoid. Your ass just hurts listening to the guy.
He's an asshole plagiarist (stole from Yost's Mzone way back in the day, never credited him).
There are many issues I have with Colin. But the fact that he is a blowhard that is just looking for click-bait is one. Starting rumors is not good radio or good journalism. It's pathetic.

Took down The Big Lead website by having listeners bombard it with requests. DDoS attack.
I used to have him on as background and then heard the John Wall rant live. When he doubled down rather than walk it back, I was done.
If you enjoy him, fine, but there is a universe of media options and I can’t imagine carving out any of my time for him.
Not a fan but good for you on finding someone you obviously have a passion for...
His interview with Harbaugh and how he handled that afterwards was unforgivable
Curious what you mean by that ? Colin was a big Harbaugh fan before and remained one after that and admitted part of that interview was his fault , and he had Jim on again and now they’re boys
I always liked Cowherd starting when he and Beadle were running sportsnation. Not surprising to anyone that show disappeared soon after except maybe ESPN who decided Beadle was a ratings queen, lol.
Can he give the occasional "shock take" that is easy to see thru? Yes, but I would rather have to eye roll than try to keep my eyes open listening to Dan Patrick or Michigans own Rich Eisen.
Luckily I have good regional coverage in Boston that I dont need to listen to national guys.
Who do I like better? UMBig11. His information/insights can be trusted...and I don't have to listen to a lot of talk-radio fluff to get it.
It's theoretically possible that he has good, positive, meaningful things to say about life, but it's hard to wade through the tsunami of 100% complete and utter horseshit that come out of his mouth to find it.. Remember when he said Bill Belichick would be Michigan's next head coach? How the hell anybody could listen to a single word after that is beyond me..
The Herd is great . He’s a prick but is a great listen if you don’t over-do him
He has the occasional interesting insight into the human condition.
But he repeats whole sentences two, three and occasionally four times during the course of a monologue. I have heard him repeat an entire paragraph on occasion. I find that to be tedious.
He has only two topics, LeBron’s greatness and where will LeBron take his greatness next. I find that to be even more tedious than the other thing.
I try twice a week. Pretty quick I go back to Art and Gator.
Colin was the guy that stole an entire bit from the MZone, passed it off as his own, and then got pissy when he was called out for it. He's a turd.
Weird that Cowherd signed up for this site 2 months ago, but I guess here we are.
OP, you know why ESPN let him go right?
"I've never bought into that 'baseball is too complex'. Really? A third of the sport is from the Dominican Republic" - Colin Cowherd
The definition of a racist comment. ^^ASSHOLE.
Lmao. You are not very smart. I feel bad for you.
That guy was part of a group that invented clickbait before the internet. Also, his takes are usually poorly-researched or otherwise justified.

Don't mind me. Just figuring out how to post images and links on 3.0
