OT - Snowmageddon POSBANG

Submitted by TatuajeVI on

The weather predictions for today and tonight have been all over the news with warnings of a nasty winter storm, so what better excuse for a POSBANG?! North of Detroit, we've only gotten about an inch of snow so far. The weather reports are saying the afternoon should bring the heaviest snow. Possible accumulation of 8-14 inches depending on your area. Monday and Tuesday we may set records for low temperatures. Be safe out there!

Heh... my wife went to Costco yesterday—not because of the snow, but because we needed normal amounts of normal stuff—and she couldn't believe how incredibly packed it was, and it was all because of Snowmageddon 2014.

Local TV news pushes weather "emergencies" like drug dealers push heroin and meth.

I'm going to be braving the storm to watch Michigan kick the shit out of northwestern at home (knock on wood, if it isn't covered by snow).

but all of us will need to be careful about the wind chill, especially with kids.  up north here they are saying we could have 45 mph winds tomorrow, high of 5, makes wind chill somewhere around -30.   careful mgoweatherheads.

incidentally, green bay weather tonight is expected to have an ambient (not including wind) temp of -15.  throw in some wind and it's going to be a dandy of a game.

Sitting in my ice shanty in kalamazoo, we got 6-8 inches last night, and it looks like we could get the same or more today!

I'm south of Chicago and we are getting it now. We are only supposed to get 4 to 6 I think. And it was so nice yesterday, 35 or so. Sucks

Monday Tuesday they are calling for -10 degrees

This storm stuff is crazy.  Went to Meijer yesterday evening.  Place was a war zone, some lady cursed me for grabbing the last bag of potatoes.  But I explained to her that I HAVE to have mashed potatoes with my meatloaf....that didn't impress her.

I shoveled like an inch since last night.  7 miles south of Stadium and Main.

I bypassed my local Meijer since the parking lot has been stupid busy since Friday afternoon.

I recall when I lived in Atlanta, I went to the store one night to pick up something my wife wanted.  Lines are out to the back of the store.  Milk and bread sold out of the shelves.  I had to ask people...WTH is going on?  They are like, THERES A BIG ICE STORM HEADED HERE.  Anyway with my midwest training I said, big deal and went home.  Understandably if an ice storm does hit there its a lot dicier with all the hills and a percentage of people who never drove in bad weather or forgot how makes it bad.

I guess the possibility that I'd be suddenly trapped in my house for a week seems a couple/3 of orders of magnitude lower than other things I worry about.

Looking at the bright side, if the snow keeps fans away from Crisler I may be able to sneak down to a better spot.  Don't want to the lower part of the blue to look empty on BTN.

snowdaypredictor.com.  Looks like no school here tomorrow.  On the plus side, we received an email from the school yesterday that all kids should wear green and white in honor of MSU's Rose Bowl victory on Monday, so hopefully that is cancelled.  Yep, welcome to my world.  I don't even live in East Lansing.

Either way, my kids will be in full Michigan gear all week.
