UM-friendly Indianapolis Brewery/Bookstore
Hey everyone - my name is Jason Wuerfel and I was a Michigan baseball player from 2000-2003. I currently live in Indianapolis where I will be opening a UM-friendly used bookstore & brewery in early 2014 called Books & Brews. You can find out more about our project on our facebook page - www.facebook.com/booksnbrews - and on our Kickstarter page - www.kickstarter.com/projects/booksnbrews/books-and-brews
Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] with any questions. We'll be hiring later in the year and on the lookout for UM alumni.
Go Blue!

LOL me too - but I travel back to Indy 3-4 times a year for work. So, I'm going to put this on my must do list for my trips next year.

This is cool. I have some vague memory of a bar/bookshop in Prague. Wish I could remember its name.

I live in Fort Wayne which is just about two hours away from Indy. I have plenty of friends that live in Indy, so I will have to come stop by when I am visiting. Best of luck to you!

I just spent the last 45 minutes or so reading your blog and checking out your Kickstarter page. I'm VERY excited about BnB and can't wait to check it out. I'm a teacher and live in Carmel, just north of your location! Have you given any thought to creating a space for book clubs? I can't possibly think of a greater place for a book club to meet than a place like BnB, and it would be a great way to encourage repeat business! I came across this site: http://bookclub.meetup.com/cities/us/in/indianapolis/ and thought it would be cool to cater to some of these clubs (similar to how a bar might host recreational sports teams) by having a special corner or table set aside to reserve for book clubs. Hell, I'd create a club just to have an excuse to stop by every week!

My wife and I will be in town December 7th, we will check it out. Boom!

As a former English major and a current beer enjoyer, I think this place sounds incredible. I love the names of the beers! I have some family in Indianapolis... the next time I'm there I'll definitely check this place out.

This is a great idea for a communal place. There's sadly very few actual bookstores anymore and to combine that with awesome beer is just brilliant. If I'm ever in Indy I'll have to look it up. Hopefully for a Michigan big championship game.

jrsemsum - I'm on Twitter - my personal account is @jasonwuerfel and @booksbrews
I've been on the Indy alumni e-mail list for a while, but unfortunately I've never been able to make any events. That is another motivation for me to have a friendly, community setting at b&b. I sent an e-mail to the U of M club of Indy to a similar effect. It's very preliminary at this point since we just hoping to be open in January 2014, but I want to make it a priority to do whatever I can for the club.
Blue Indy - book clubs are a natural fit for b&b and one of the events I'm most excited about. I can't imagine there are many places out there where your book club can grab a craft brew or glass of local wine! Short version - we'd love to have you! You are exactly who we are designing our store to cater towards.
bluebelle - Thank you! Both my wife and I are English majors, too! I really appreciate the positive feedback!
mikeelikesit - Hopefully we'll be building out the space by December 6th, so make sure you shoot me an e-mail when you're in town and I can get you in to check it out and talk about the Wolverines!
Thanks again everyone!
GO BLUE!
