Hoke: Williams and Avery back, Gardner gets encouragement from Manziel
Hoke: A.J. Williams and Courtney Avery are back

Gardner: Johnny Manziel sent me a text after the game telling me to keep my head up

I'm not sure how much to read into this:
Hoke on if same starting five OL will start Saturday "I don't know yet. We'll see what happens"

if A&M can get their shit together, Devin can thank him personally on January 6th.

There's no chance A&M will make the SEC championship game, unless you see Alabama coming up with 2 conference losses against their relatively easy conference schedule (the only top-20 team left on their schedule is LSU, so there would have to be a major upset in there). And A&M probably doesn't have a tough enough schedule to make the BCS championship game without winning the SEC, as LSU is also their only remaining chance for a top-20 win. So regardless of whether Gardner is playing on January 6, Manziel won't be.

I'd be stunned if Schofield isn't starting all year unless it's due to injury.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Glasgow slide over to C and Bryant take LG. We'll see how Miller does in UFR today, but he continues to be the weakest link, IMO. The only thing stopping that is if Glasgow has issues snapping and/or doesn't grasp calling the blocking assignments, but physically he's been more impressive than Miller.

I read that Miller was the best with line calls and making the correct presnap blocking assignment.

So the redshirt freshman RG is safer than the fifth year senior RT? I find that hard to believe.

I won't attempt to speak about Wilson's overall play but IIRC I though he avoided contact with Akron's QB resulting in a first down. It was on the play that their QB scrampled right (east) and picked up a long, key first down. Had Wilson laid a hit he may have prevented the pickup. Again, IIRC. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Edit: Meant to be in response to #49.

But it was probably Wilson playing it safe to avoid a late hit or a roughness penalty. Refs like to toss flags for contact to non-scrambly QBs.

Strange that a QB who lost his game is texting encouragement to a player who win his game.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:31 PM ^
The one offering encouragement put over 550 yards, 4 TD passes and 42 points up on Alabama. The one getting encouragement threw interceptions and fumbled once against Akron.
Not that hard to understand......

One could assume that since they did the Manning passing camp together that they could be acquaintences or even friends. So I don't find this to be patronizing at all or out of the realm of just being a friend. While I am not a fan of Manziel's media hype, he does seem to find a way to win. Gotta give the kid credit.

Manziel/Gardner/Boyd talk after gms #Elite11 RT @umichfootball Gardner: JohnnyManziel sent me a text aftr game telling me to keep my head up
Boyd and Manziel have been tearing it up this season, Gardner decidedly less so.

However, looking at all three and what they bring to the table I see Devin with much of the same characteristics as Johnny and Boyd. I believe the more Devin plays the more he will find his niche u til he's finally locked in like those other two guys.

"Johnny Manziel sent me a text after the game telling to keep my head up......and look right at the person you are signing the autograph for"

Manziel is both everything Michigan fans hoped Tate Forcier would be on the field and also mentally as off as Tate Forcier turned out to be. What a weird combination.

Well, a fake version. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some accuracy here...
