Look no further than Adoree Jackson at USC. Plays both ways, is arguably the best CB in college football, and never gets tired. Peppers is his equal and should be used the same. USC can drop Adoree in here and there because of their stacked WR corps. We don't have that luxury. Peppers needs to play both ways.
I was at Dodger Stadium when Gibby hit the home run. I can't even put into words how electric that moment was.
I was at the Rose Bowl when we won the national championship in 1997 (game played 1/1/98). How the refs missed that OBVIOUS pass interference call on the WSU receiver at midfield on that last drive was criminal.
After the Rodney King riots, I went to a Clipper playoff game that had to be moved to the Anaheim Convention Center. Easily the loudest event I ever attended. Ironically, Doc Rivers was the starting point guard.
I was at The Forum the night Magic won his first NBA Championship vs, the 76ers.
Worst event ever? Flew my then fiancee to Ann Arbor from L.A. to see UM-ND... only to have my weekend destroyed by Rocket Ismail running two kicks back for scores.
My gut tells me Karan Higdon is going every bit as good, if not better, than Mike Weber over the course of the next 4 years. The true value of all the shenanigans OSU pulled is they're probably blackballed at Cass Tech going forward.
My daughter had a 3.85 in high school and and 31 on her ACT and only got into Michigan because Matt Anderson chose her to be a walk-on on the water polo team. The choice isn't Michigan or stupidity. That father was way out of line to get bent over Mattison's remark.
P.S. She graduated last May cum laude and considers Michigan the greatest experience of her young life. Neal is missing out. His loss.
I like Hoke, the man. I remember watching his presser on MGoBlue and when he said "It's Michigan for Christ's sake!" I was, like, YEAH! I went to Michigan, my dad went to Michigan and my daughter is about to graduate Michigan. My whole family bleeds blue. So we were psyched about the hire - finally a Michigan man!
But the truth is, he's not head coach material. Winning at Ball State and SDSU is NOT the same as winning in the Big Ten. We're recruiting all these "alleged" 4 and 5 stars, and this is how the O line plays? This is how the D plays? It pains me to say this, but Dantonio completely and thoroughly outcoached Hoke today. This is one of the most embarrassing losses I've ever sat through.
WHAT IS THIS LOVE AFFAIR HE HAS WITH TOUSSAINT?!!! Did he successfully pick up one blitz today? Did he ever carry the ball with a sense of purpose? Does he run a 4.9 40?!!
What a colossal waste of talent. Unimaginative and completely predictable play calling. Uninspired defense. At least our kickers made their FGs.
And I'm sorry but he looks like a total buffoon standing out there with a golf shirt on, no headset, out of touch with the 21st century. You don't see Urb, Saban, Dantonio even, walking around without a headset on. This isn't getting better anytime soon. This sucks.
Part of the learning curve is to have a complete abortion of a game like that. This is where his mental toughness will be known. If he can put it behind him and go back to the Gardner we saw vs ND (minus the end zone INT), then Akron could end up being a blessing in disguise. If not, well, this could be a 4 loss season...
The head coach for USC in 2014 will be Denver Broncos defensive coordinator and USC alum Jack Del Rio. Haden will circle the wagons with this hire, bring one of the boys from the good ole days in to coach. If Jeff Fisher had any inkling to leave the NFL, he'd be the one, but that's not gonna happen.
I think Rod Marinelli got more love in Detroit in 2008 than Kiffin's getting now. At least Marinelli had an excuse with his untalented roster (minus #81). Kiffin's got 4 and 5 star recruits. The incompetence is astonishing.
Speaking of Lions, Joique and Reggie do resemble the "Thunder and Lightning" of LEndale White and Reggie back at USC. Lions may actually be a playoff team this year.
Just moved my oldest son into UNLV last weekend. Campus is remarkably beautiful and you can't even tell it's a mile or two from the Strip. And all football and basketball games are free for the students. Football, not a big deal. Basketball, very big deal.
I don't have a clue what the Infractions Committee's barometer is on anything. Tattoos, 5 game suspension. Agent gives a house to a stepdad, massive probation. Now this? I'm guessing his national appeal and the ratings that come with him played a big part in this decision.
Birmingham Seaholm HS grad - transferred after sophomore year at Michigan to USC (got into their film school). Have lived in L.A. since USC. My daughter is a senior now at UM. Out of state tuition SUCKS!
I went back for a road game in Columbus in 2009 when they played USC. It was maybe 10:30 in the morning and a bunch of the students in Eddie George's bar were already high school hammered. Wearing FUSC shirts they spent the time and money to create. Clever.
I sat at a table with a group of Buckeye fans who were bagging on Michigan. Then I said, "Yeah, but if your kid got into Michigan, how fast would you write that tuition check?"
Stafford fell to me in the 9th - and we have a crazy QB league where TDs are worth 6 pts and you get a 5 pt bonus for 300 yards passing. I had Luck as my keeper, but I took Stafford anyway. He'll be my keeper for next season.
Missed Reggie by one pick in the 4th but took Joique in the 18th and final round. Avoided Burleson, Broyles and Pettigrew like the plague.
OT - anyone see Roy Roundtree do that Taylor Mays imitation on Hard Knocks? Hilarious!
Mike Garrett was a buffoon. His response to the sanctions was to stand before a San Francisco alumni club and say the NCAA is jealous of their success.
USC was fortunate to convince Pat Haden to take the job.
Michigan is fortunate to have a super successful and bright businessman as their AD. Ex-jocks like Garrett can ruin a program. Haden, obviously, is an ex-jock but was a successful lawyer for years before taking the AD gig.
This is about obsolete and ridiculously subjective rules by the NCAA infractions committee. Reggie Bush's greedy stepfather accepts a house from an agent and USC gets hammered. What has Miami suffered in light of all the Nevin Shapiro shenanigans? Or Oregon for hiring a pro scouting service to provide them illegal background info on recruits? That's not even about money, that's about something worse - cheating - and they get 1 scholly and probation. Who's making up these rules as they go along in the Infractions office??
More than anything it comes down to whether the NCAA infractions committee likes the school/A.D. or not. That more than anything determines the severity of the penalty. Subjectivity over objectivity.
We go to college for one reason, to learn how to make a living. And we punish athletes for being capitalists?? They're talking about suspending Manziel because he signed autographs? Damn, that opportunity is the American dream! Capitalizing on your fame! It's so dumb and really needs to be changed.
Denard is one of my favorite players of all time (and I'm old enough to have seen Anthony Carter play), but I'm glad he's gone. We never could run the offense we wanted to with DR behind center. We got a glimpse late at what DG can do. With spring ball and now this summer camp under his belt, he's going to be the breakout player of the season.
I never know what to make of our running game. For decades, we've brought in these highly touted RBs who turn out to be good, not great, and total busts in the NFL. So I think it comes down to the QB position to lead the way this season.
I live in L.A. and if somehow we can get to the Rose Bowl, Wolverine nation will be descending on my house for a hell of a New Year's bash. But getting to the Rose Bowl only requires beating Ohio in consecutive weeks. Uhh, piece of cake, right?
Pints of everything from the UK. People mostly play darts which just seems so completely lame. Former MLB pitcher Jeff Suppan opened a bar/grille a few doors down from that. Would love to watch the Lions game but starts at 4:30 PST. (live outside L.A.)
Watching UM games as early as 9 AM took some getting used to but now I love it.
Man, the modus operandi for the SEC is pathetic. And the big scumbag of 'em all was Ohio's golden boy, Urb. 31 players arrested during his tenure there. Could you imagine Bo letting that happen? I think it would have ended after one.
Saw a hilarious slam on Urb today. That always puts me in a good mood.

What's going on with Peppers? Why was he a non-participant today?

My two favorite losers in one satirical op-ed piece.

I used to be a season ticket holder for the Los Angeles Raiders. You can visualize the rest.
I fly from Los Angeles back to Michigan with my then-fiancee, to meet my parents and be their guests at the Michigan-ND game.
Rocket Ismael runs two punts back for TDs and we lose. 5 hour flights each way and all that goes into air travel for that?!!
I hate ND.

Road teams are usually stuck in the corner of the end zone. Just find a seat on the 50 and enjoy the view...
Well, a fake version. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some accuracy here...

...is a national championship killer. Impossible for anyone to win in Autzen Stadium. I'd rather play Bama again than Oregon.
RichRod was less of a lame duck than this guy.

Tommy Rees won't have that Temple defensive secondary to throw at this week...

Anyone know which stadium crowd started that White Stripes chant? Everyone's doing it now.
Here's a funny thing on the Heisman candidates. Can't quite tell if it's pro-Devin/anti-Braxton or the other way around...

I guess Rolling Stone thinks drug use should be limited to rock stars and not athletes.
I'm just glad Urb is their problem, not our problem.
